Has anyone had their stock leather seats recovered with leather? My driver's seat is starting to look worn and I was wondering where I could get a good recovering job done, how much it would cost and how long it would take.
I am looking to have the fit and finish as close to original as possible but would prefer top grain leather versus the split hide stuff that is on there now. |
you have basically two options.
1. the factory seat covers are available 2. you can take it to an upolstry shop, try to find one that does older/concours cars. mike |
On the other forum there was a guy who did a seatcover and it looked just like the stock seatcover!! It was AWSOME. I am thinking about it myself.

I have been thinkin the same thing bout my seats, I hate the look of worn leather. I know that one of my buddies had his Grand Prix GTX done with two tone leather, and it looked AWESOME, and was softer than the stock leather was.
HMMMM...... I dont remember how much he paid though, but the guy had money, so I am sure it was a lot :( |
i just got some sheepskins for mine. the leather was totally fucked.

Listen - before you go out and spend a bundle I have heard that there are some really good leather dyes out there for that specific purpose! I think it works as long as the leather isn't really torn. But worn is ok!
Maybe someone here knows the name of a company that sells it? |

_Rikki I have to say I did mine about 2 or 3 months ago and they still look and fit like new. and Rikii, I saw a pic of your car today, my car is black too and had tan originally. I redid the seats in black and it looks WAY better than the black/tan. If anyone is curious about the carpet, I dyed the carpet black with the fabric spray paint. The cost was about 20.00 and took about 1 hour. I removed the seats and painted the carpet in the car. I have shown my carpet to a few of the forum members at the racetrack and they are all shocked that its dyed, nobody can tell. And I constantly get comments about how awesome the seats are. David |
