Okay, so right now I could afford a Blown Rx7, and can afford to rebuild it by spring.....or....I could wait it out...and buy whatever I can get for my $14k+ budget (Like a Rex with a rebuilt engine already)...

...Many of you would suggest buyin Blown, and rebuild right? Right.

I've asked some owners and many say $5k is a good "Over"Estimate (Safe one) as far as what to expect to rebuild.

That being said, I know engines can come ported. I'm not looking to have a single turbo'd 500hp Monster. But I know I would like something more than simply being stock. The mod bug hit me enough with the Mr2, I know it'll come back.

What's a good port (I've seen several "Levels") to reach somehwere between 300-350rwhp on stock twins?

I'm assuming not much at all, given I've seen MazdaMike's readout and find it very stellar that 319 was acheived with 99Spec Twins, Injectors, etc.

I would like to be running something that wouldn't *require* race gas to be efficient, and of course be reliable. In fact, it's probably due to the desire to beat (or be at the speed of) a BPU Supra. I'm not much of a racer, not illegal anywho. But it'd be cool to have that same power I was going to have earlier when I wanted an MKIV.

Seems to me with FD's the options are limitless, all different combo's could be made. Thanks for any input/advice.

You can easily make that much power on stock twins, without a ported motor. A street port isnt going to reduce the life of an engine by a noticible amount. If you want to go with a single turbo, a t04e would work nicely with your power goals, and could be used well with a stock motor. (to4e would choke the top end of a streetport, and thats when the streetport shines) You would not have to use race gas at this level, and the twins or a small single like the to4e are very streetable.

Mazda mike is using a stock intercooler. (unless im missing something) By removing hte stock bottleneck one he will prodice more power.

So is a ported rotary not worth it? Doesn't ensure a safer way of gaining power? And is just as reliable as a stock engine (Given other things are taken care of correctly)

I would imagine there are 13b rebuilds that come with stronger internals...is that true?

So do you think 350rwhp on an Rx7 would fare well against a 400rwhp Supra, lol, now that I just said that, it does seem just right (Given the Supra is supra-heavy).

I figured a streetport was "stronger" to start off with, I really have a budget of up to like $6-7k for a rebuild so given the funds are there I would like to do things correctly, not cut corners, and reach the 350rwhp goal.

Thanks for the help.

yeah, if you have the motor out, by all means port the bitch. Im just saying, for your goals it isnt required. For example, i bought my car with a 6,000 mile fresh stock reman. I am in no rush to pull the sucker just to get a streetport.

Ported rotary with all the bolt ons and stock twins will easily attain 350 rwhp at 15 psi.

Add a little more for single turbo and you'll be able to hit 450 at 15 psi with the right turbo.

Street port is what your looking for. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

I'm at 300wrhp @6.5k rpms on a ported motor @10psi with the main cat and full interior.

I was getting wacky A:F above that and couldn't turn up the boost just yet. Few things need to get sorted out.

Rock on! These cars are so Badass. So are you guys!

Yeah man. You can get 450 RWHP out of a stock motor. That's pushing it to it's limits but you can do it, note: this is with a large tuebo and all the extras. But you will be able to produce 350-450 hp easy all day all the time. A supra woudl need at least 500-600 hp to keep up with you at that.
