Check the trailing arms and toe links. We had that same clunk, replaced them with some aftermarket ones and it was gone.

also check the rear bushings, mine was doing that when i first got it. i replaced the bushings and no more clunk.

rear upper pillow ball bushings.....

they wear out and the hub can rotate, back and forth, when you hit the brakes, clunk clunk. verify with a pry bar, or let someone roll the car and hit the brakes in the parking lot, you can see it. or actually leave the ebrake on and try to roll the car back and forth

Could be your Pillow Ball Bushings, Differentrial bushings, Trainling arm bushings. I just changed mine. They were all bad.

Mine is doing the same, is this a major problem that affects handling or something I can let go for a while until I have the money??

Depends on how long "a while" is?

jack up the rear of the car grab both sides of the wheel and shake it you should feel the clunk you hear in the cabin. i am with everyone else it is prob the toe links or the pillow ball bushings or a combo of them
