My small racing battery kept draining. I use a charger that has a start switch so when I put it on the 70 amp start mode the fans kick on.If I turn it off and just charge the battery, when it gets to a certain charge level the fans kick on until the battery is drained again. but they are not on when the engine is running. I knew I had a drainage of power somewhere and this should be it. How do I search this and why does just connecting up a charger close the circut or charge the battery to kick them off?Is there a shorted relay switch or fuse?

I do have a IC pump that is connected to the battery and the ignition switch but it goes on only when the ignition Key is in the "ON" position.

any help on how to search for a elec. leak would be great.

The fans turn on becouse as soon as you turn the charger on you are supplying 12v to the entire car. basically you have the fan switch and 4 relays to check. The relays are know problems. they are on the passenger side towards the front, close to the wheel well.

I would get(unless you have) the schematic for the fan system, then you can trace it out and see what wire has power when it should not.

a bad water thermo sensor can cause ur fan to kick on like you mentioned but thats only when the key is in the ignition though, had that happened. its the black plug up by the radiator fill, next to the green plug also. its a pain in the ass to get to, i was lucky its just a wire and not a sensor ploblem. other than that, if it does it on its own, then its probably a relay, like mentioned above. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

It's your fan Relays. Pull them all out. GUARANTEE you have one that's burned out. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif
