i found a 93 base rx7 twin turbo red with black cloth or i can have it red with tan leather.. but my question is? it has a 3 inch dp, mid pipe and n1 exhaust, aftermarket clutch, pulleys, aluminium ast, turbo timer, boost gauge, brand new turbos, motor was rebuilt 15k miles ago... but it used to have a petit ecu, short shifter, alum radiator. should i wacth out ofr anything or am i in the cool?

vosko 09-02-2002 09:17 PM

what do you mean used to have ?

buying3rdgen 09-02-2002 10:26 PM

like it had all that stuff i named but i told him i didn't want the other stuff that i said used to have

vosko 09-02-2002 10:31 PM

any reason ??? a pettit ecu is a must have on a car with that many mods on it...... its basically read to blow the engine if put a stock ecu on there....... you should keep the aluminum rad. you don't need a short shifter but its nice to save your 5th gear syncro

Fd3BOOST 09-03-2002 04:47 AM

Why would you not want mods on the car? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png Thats a first. Car sounds good. But you are going to neeed some sort of ECU or computer to adjust a few things or say bye-bye to that new motor.

well i thouht iwouldbe ok because i onyant to run stock boost. want it as a daily driver.. and i onlwant to run stock boost. would i be saf if the car has the dp,midpipe, exhaust, pulleys, clutch, the 3mm seals, and the street port... or do i have to have a ecu?

vosko 09-03-2002 09:46 AM

you can run lean even running stock boost. the main problem is you can't run stock boost with full exhaust it will spike to 15psi or higher........... boost control is hard with full exhaust. ask anyone :(

buying3rdgen 09-03-2002 04:28 PM

a short shifter saes ur 5th gear? or were u being sarcastic? so if i just have a exhaust will i be ok?

vosko 09-03-2002 04:36 PM

ask anyone if you try to shift hard to 3rd gear you'll miss it and hit 5th gear and break the syncro

If you run your stock ecu, put your main cat back in. Get a boost controler, set it for 10lbs. Put your stock intake on too. Downpipe and catback is all you should run on the stock ecu or any other 2 mods. Believe it or not, I ran lean running only 10psi having stock ecu with dp, mp, cat-back, and intake. Just becuse your running 10psi, doesn't mean your not going to run lean. Do yourself a favor, put the Pettit ecu in and run 10psi, then you'll never have a problem.

Good advice E.

I heard that E!! When it is cold out I open my boost controller all the way till it hits like 8-9psi and it is plenty when it is real cold out. I suggest for all to turn down the boost when it is colder like you know 40 degrees or so. You risk blowing your ride up. Been there done that. Spiked to 17psi in the winter with a MP and SEQ. So that is why I hate SEQ. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR

I just didn't like the feeling that the sequential system gave me...almost like a feeling of insecurity(can't describe it)...I'd rather have a single turbo any day https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

vosko 09-04-2002 11:27 AM

i liked my seq turbo..... as soon as my foot hit the floor 15psi of boost heheeheh

Did you like the non-seq. Jspec?

I like how the power comes on smooth. I also like having no boost spikes. When the sequential system works right, it's a good system...BUT when it doesn't it becomes a nightmare.

Fd3BOOST 09-06-2002 08:27 AM

Yea I hear that.

yeah, when you miss the 2 - 3 shift, you create a new gear - my friends called it 'thrive'. it makes a really nice grinding and crunching noise, and if you are lucky, the synchro breaks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
