Ok guys im doing a clutch install right now and im running into a slight snag w/ the flywheel. when reinstalling it, it doesn't seem like its seating down properly.i line it up w/ the groove, then get enough threads to start the locknut , then hit it with the impact gun, but theres still about half the threads showing on the nut. and looking under the backside there just seems like theres too much gap. i posted a few pictures i just took of the gap between the back of the motor and the flywheel, also some of the locknut. i think the little tab may have been messed up while removing the flywheel. it seems like it shouldnt be triangular like that, but maybe im wrong. Hmmmm it's been a while since I had mine off but that doesn't look right. I dont know what might be causing your problem unfortunately.

the key isn't likely seating properly.

Yup

MOst likely the key is fubar now. You are going to need a new key and maybe a new flywheel nut if the threads started to strip.

You know the flywheel is on correctly when it bottoms against the Eshaft and you can thread the nut by hand until you see no threads of the nut itself and about 1 or two threads showing of the eshaft.

I gonna go try to file it down a little so it might be able to screw it on. Maybe that will work. I don't want to do too much or I will end up having to buy a new key.

if busted..get a new key...

here are some reference pics of when mine was pulled...

That key is pretty important, You don't want to start filing it down or modifying it at all. It is the only thing transmitting the torque of the engine to the wheels of the car. If that key fails you won't be going anywhere.

I just did my rear oil seal last week and the key is very tricky, one suggestion, get a new one. Use a little bit of heavier weight grease to hold it in place, you have to have it tipped up slightly higher toward the rear of the car and it should slide right into place. good luck

**update**

I was able to get the flywheel on and the nut is flush with the key. I tried putting the pressure plate on and the 3 little things that hold the pressure plate in with the clutch and the flywheel. Not all of those things will line up with the pressure plate. I noticed that my flywheel was a little loose, would that make a difference if I take it off and torque it more.

I forgot to mention, I didn't file it down too much just a little bit.
