i have noticed that recently [this morning] that i have a few tight spots in my steering, and it is mostly when NOT moving, or moving very slowly. i do not, as of right now, seem to notice the tightened steering response while going faster than 20mph, but it still of concern to me. i also notice that i am having difficulty steering/turnign when braking and slowing down.
does this sound like a PS pump, or a problem with the rack? anyone have any ideas.....there IS fluid in the PS pump reservoir...... thanks for the help... lou |
it sounds like a pump problem. the pump works the hardest when you are going slow
|
that was my first thought. i never really associated a rack with anything other than an clunking noise if it were going out.
my other reason for assuming that the pump IS the problem is that when i turn the steering wheel all the way in any direction, i get a squealing noise.......... anyone got a power steering pump that they wna to get rid of???? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
sounds like a loose belt

belts are in good working order and good tension on them. |
