Ok so I finally finished changing out my old spark plugs and wires. When I start the car now it will go down to 2k RPM then keep jumping up and down from 2k to 2500RPM without stopping. Anyone know why this is? The wires seem to be in place fully. :-/

I forgot to add it make a really bad sounding noise when it accelerates to 2500...

Did you put them back in the correct order and did you tamper with anything else?

MugenCho 07-29-2005 01:23 AM

Everything is where they are supposed to be. I doubled checked to make sure all the throttle cables are good and not out of place. Could it possible be that I used a say longer/shorter cable for one plug. Would that even make an impact at all? BTW I got the MSD cables...if anyone has experience with those.

are you sure you got the right wires on the right plugs?

FikseRxSeven 07-29-2005 01:54 PM

did you take the manifold off?

if you did, you could have forgotten to tighten the nuts

FikseRxSeven 07-29-2005 02:05 PM

does your car make a weird sound... like a cross between a wistle and a scream?

you probably took the throttle body off to change your plugs. forgot to tighten the nuts.. now your engine is goin nuts trying to compensate for all the air coming in

nopistons94 07-29-2005 06:39 PM

but who takes off the throttle body to change plugs? It takes me 10 min to change my plugs and i dont even have to jack up the car. Maybe the elbow if he forgot one of the 4 nuts thats possible

MugenCho 07-29-2005 11:12 PM

I changed the wires and plugs nopistons94...that's why I had to take off the throttle body and all that good stuff. BTW Fikse I think you are on the right track and thanks for pointing out that the throttle body could do that. I noticed that a piece of the (gasket i think it is that gos between the throttle body and manifold? ) broke off. I shall go check to see if that is it right now since I'm off work finally. Thanks to everyone for all the helpful tips.

gotcha about the wires, if you have a hole where the gasket was then that is the first place i'd look as well
