Hi All,

Im new to the forum. I have a 2000 model auto (i know, i know) that makes what sounds like a pinging noise when shifting from gear to gear at 6,500 rpm.

My question is, has anyone heard of this? I dont understand how it can be pinging at the shift. I thought the timing is retarded when the auto shifts gears.

anyway, the car has 50,000kms on it and i have the motor out for a rebuild because the rear rotor is only showing 75psi while the front is showing 105psi.

Also, i have done a bit of research on apex seals and ive found that standard seals are fine for daily driving and the occasional 'squirt'. Would everyone agree?

I'm after a supplier who can ship to my area as i am located near gold coast, Queensland, australia.

Free accomidation here if anyone wants to bring the seals with them, no im serious!

I recently had the engine rebuilt on my '94 manual with the standard 2mm seals. I got my rebuild kit from RX7.com. They are located in Texas. If you wire transfer the funds to them, they may send you the seals. I am not familiar with the pinging sound on shifting. I had a '91 automatic that ran great. You could bring to redline before it shifted if you did not back off of the throttle. Make sure when you have the engine rebuilt that it has all of the parts necessary for combination with an automatic transmission.
