So I've decided its finally time to get a jack. I have a gift certificate to Sears, so I'll probably get a Craftsman. My question is: What jack does everybody have? Especially people with lowered cars. Are there any jacks that will fit under the front lip of a lowered car to reach the jack point? My car is not lowered now, but it probably will be sometime, so I want to make sure to get a jack that will fit.

Alternatively, if anybody could just measure the ground clearance to their front lip, and state what kind of lip they have and how much their car is lowered. That would also be extremely helpful. Thanks!

I used the factory jack, if your going to drop it hard, the first thing I'd do, is roll the front fender lip's before worrying about a jack. Once that's done, carry around a 2x4, because you'll have to roll over it before you even think about putting a jack under it.

mines low.. but i can still fit the factory jack uner it.. i raise it enough with that to get a good jack under it.

Get one of these bad boys if you can.

Really low profile. My buddy has one that looks like this, it lifts 18" in 3 pumps. Kinda expensive though.....

I have the smallest floor jack I could find at the big stores and it barely fits under my car. It's a huge pain in the ass to use, too.

I got my "alluminum racing jack" from harborfreight.com.

Ran me $185.

I have a couple of 2x10's that I drive onto first, s 2-3 ft long pieces that I drive on first and then another 2 about a foot long, then I can get any jack under there I want... if I'm just changing the oil it's just enough room to get the pan in and take out the plug.

Yeah I have ramps right now too. It sounds like I'm going to have to get some low-profile ones (2x12s!) if I ever lower my car. That's going to make changing my wheels a real pain!
