This sounds nuts. But has anyone ever converged the pedal placement to come from the floor on an FD, "like most race cars". God i would spend good money for that conversion..sounds like a lot of fab work. Ok, just wondering. Thanks a lot!!

the point being?

Do you know WHY you see pedal box setups like that in race cars?

treceb 03-05-2005 06:34 PM

both my bugs have em like that. my guess its cause, engines in the back.

Why is it?

I mean...here you can see that its not just rear engine cars.

Floor mounted pedals are a pain in the hole - you can't rest your foot behind the clutch. If I was doing my car again I'd probably fork out for a top mounted one for this reason.

looks like a huge waste of money and aggravation to me for a street car.

spaceman Spiff 03-06-2005 01:14 PM

i dont rest my foot behind the clutch, that just sounds silly, rest it next to it.

haha u put the gas pedal "IN" your shoe

Man try driving a stupid porsche around after driving your rx7, youll quickly realize how annoying the floor mounted pedals are. Unless you're constantly shifting and adjusting your pressur eon the pedals, its just a stupid arrangement.

I can understand that setup for serious road races and rallies cause youre constantly changing your pedal pressures with your feet, but driving it on the street sucks.

thats one reason i hate driving customers porsche's.

well, allright then, thanks for the info.

I dont get it? why even waste time thinking about this, is there something wrong with the stock pedal assembly that this could improve.

turbovr6 03-06-2005 04:24 PM

you can shift mad qwik yo!

mini-x 03-06-2005 06:44 PM

i think i heard someone say that placing the pedal set up from the floor creates a lower center of gravity or something like that for the pedals or something

When that's all the room you have, you tend to rest your foot behind the clutch pedal. The only advantage of having pedals mounted like that is that the pivot point is closer to your ankle, so you have better feel from the pedals.
