sup ppl,

if a radiator painted black will cool 15% to 20% better than an unpolished aluminum/copper radiator.

is this true??????????????????????????????????

BoOsTin FD 04-10-2004 04:48 PM

who told you that?

damimfast 04-10-2004 04:59 PM

i read it off rx7club.com i just want it to see what u guy think

turbovr6 04-10-2004 05:27 PM

I dunno about that, seems like BS. Black attracts heat, don't know about dissipating it

rfreeman27 04-10-2004 05:39 PM

If it were true, dont you think rad. manufactures would paint them black for the said benifits?

r_xplicit 04-10-2004 06:51 PM

send it to swain tech coatings and have the heat extractor coating put on it.....like a polymoly coat for pistons...

mazdaspeed7 04-10-2004 06:55 PM

Paint is an insulator. You would need a special coating that transfers heat better than the bare aluminum. Typical paint will not do this, but the previously mentioned swain coating may.

ColinRX7 04-10-2004 06:57 PM

Whoever told you that doesn't know what the **** they are talking about. Coincidentally, they came from RX7Club.

Yeah paint is typically an insulator. There may be a special material that works.

LOL, almost like saying if you paint your windshield you would be able to see better at night.
