Hey so bare with me lol I'm looking to buy this rx7 but the guy says a fan doesn't work and the car overheats. the engine looks stock except I can see upgraded intake.

Guy doesn't know what's done to motor, motor is clean though.

Can anyone help me with what the problem is and or how much it would be to fix about?

More than likely a relay or fuse, check the fuses first, then the four relays on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Before buying check the fluids to make sure there's no cross contamination. Rotaries don't do well at all with overheating. Make sure it runs smooth with no obvious misses or detonations as that could mean a blown apex seal

Make the guy fix it before you buy it. Buying it like that is foolish. Since the stock gauge is worthless, it SHOULD have an aftermarket temp gauge.

yea thats what i was thinking too its probably either a broken fan or blown fuse just wanted to get some input from people with more experience.. and yea i get what your saying about making sure it runs well my only problem is this guys in another state. he says the car runs good and strong except for this problem and he said it just started happening. but i wont truly know until i go out there and see for myself. the heating problem shouldnt be too hard to fix but i dont feel like ripping the motor apart the first year i buy it to change apex seals or anything. its kind of a risky buy but the guy wants 9 but i could prob get him down to 8 with the overheating problem especially and idk if thats overpriced but its been hard to find decent rx7's under 10 lately so i dont know. lol

You aren't buying a "decent RX7" if it's overheating and you can't even drive it home...period. Don't buy it unless your absolutely sure you know WHY it overheats or HE fixes it. Snce you don't know RX7's and we can't internet diagnos it for you, I strongly recommend you have him fix it. The overheating could be as simple as a blown fuse or as complicated as a failed coolant seal. The latter will require a complete engine rebuild. If that ends up being the case the low purchase price won't make it inexpensive.

most likely, it's either a blown coolant seal or a stuck t-stat. The cooling fans are only needed when the car is sitting still. I ran my FD as a daily driver for over 3 years with no fans on it at all. The should be working... but i don't think they are the root of the problem. Have him stick a new t-stat in it and drive it with an aftermarket gauge installed. If if still over heats... the engine is probably toast. Also, have him make sure the belly pan under the radiator is installed... if it's not, the air coming in the nose of the car won't go thru the radiator.
