Intercooler??? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

There are two "caps" on stock cooling system.... ok 3 so called caps..

One on the overflow tank, one on the ast (Air Seperation Tank), and one on the filler neck.

If "coolant came out" of overflow, my guess is that you might have a coolant seal issue.. and you should also see your temp gauge sky rocketting.

If "coolant came out" of your AST tank cap, than your cap is bad. Go get a new one.

If "coolant came out" of your filler neck cap, you need to replace it with a new one.

Hope this helps.. Make your you know which part you are talking about.. usually intercooler has nothing to do with your cooling system (ie radiator)

The "intercooler cap" he speaks of is most likely the AST since it is mounted with the stock intercooler. He might be better off to just replace the AST altogether, but replacing the cap should do fine as well. But, there may be a crack in the tank causing it to leak as well. I had that problem and upgraded to a metal AST with a pressure release cap. Also, when my cap doesn't seal properly it send coolant to the overflow so be sure to look at that as well. Based on my experiences if there is a leak in your system you should be losing coolant thru the overflow as well.

I agree with you.. But before he replaces the AST, he should make sure what his problem is. It could be that his coolant seals are toast. In that case, his AST might be ok, and that he needs a rebuilt. Stock AST is ok as long as there isn't a crack.

My suggestion will be do a coolant pressure test. If you do it, don't over pressurize the system.

My thing is if he has a bad seal or air entering the system the coolant should be leaking from the overflow and NOT the AST... If there's coolant coming out of the AST then I would say it's either a bad cap or bad AST tank...
