I just got my OS Giken twin disc in the mail the other day. What are you guys using and how well does your setup work? Thanks-

Please post your feedback on this after it is installed. I'm curious about how it feels. Currently I have the Exedy Hyper Single for my FC, but I haven't yet installed it. Before I purchased this clutch, my choices were between the OS Giken or Exedy.



I was told that the OS Giken twin plate was extremely harsh/hard. Depending on how much power I am making, I may have to upgrade to a twin plate. (Don't want the clutch/flywheel to explode on me).

That's the biggest rumor I've heard about the OS Giken...that it's harsh. It is actually EASIER to drive my twin than a super single. It engages SO smooth, hold power, and changes the clutch from pull to push....



I ALWAYS tell people to get this clutch. It may be pricey, but **** that...it's G-Damn worth it!

OS Giken is well worth the money, twinplates are the way to go.

I love my OS, Im thinking of trying a ORC, but I dont know yet



I like them both, and easy and pretty cheap to overhaul so you can

keep it forever hehe

i really wanted to get the os giken but i couldnt afford it...so i got the act until i can buy it lol!!! i need a clutch like yesterday so i dont have the time to wait for it either....one day though it will be mine!

I can help supply some used ones in ok condition and then you can just buy a overhaul kit for right at $500



I had an ORC is pretty good condiiton the other day in my reach for $700. I almost picked it up but I have some other things going on..

definitely get ahold of jt imports and get a used set. A rebuild kit is "cheap" and the clutch should last a long time. I believe stock, the disks are 4mm, and can be worn down to 1mm before being replaced. I've had mine for over a year now and am at 3.5mm....so I have a while to go.

Which disks are you using in the OS? Going by their catalog in the U.S. there seems to be solid hub, sprung hub and carbon/sprung hub. Jason, what are we looking at for a used OS (on average)? They're going for under $1500 with the ceramic/solid plates here in the U.S.

Well, if someone would want to purchase my Exedy Hyper Single, I would gladly put up the cash for the OS Giken. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone wants to buy it....



Oh well. I'll just stick w/ my Exedy clutch for now. If I make more power, then I will upgrade to the OS Giken twin plate.



On another note, do you guys have any feedback regarding Exedy's Hyper Carbon Series? Basically, they utilize carbon and carbon fiber in the building materials.

I "heard" that these clutches, will slip just a little bit (to reduce driveline shock). But, they may wear faster. (Again, just something I heard). Any truth to this?



Also, here is a question of my own....regarding the carbon clutch series,...most of the time w/ carbon based products (like brakes), they need to be warmed up in order to work properly. Would this also apply these clutches?

Don't they come with the push/pull kit? Oh, I mistakenly referred to the OS as the Daiken/Exedy twin plate w/ the various setups....I actually wouldn't be surprised if Exedy made all the components in the OS however.

From my understanding. OS Giken makes their own products.



Exedy and OS Giken both make clutches for Cusco. For Cusco, the twin plates will say OS Giken, while the Hyper Single style will say Exedy (or vice versa,...I could've mixed them up).



Also, Exedy makes the Power Enterprise clutches.



I've heard that OS Giken is one of the few companies that are truly a race/performance dedicated company. Others, like ORC (Ogura Racing Clutch), are not. For example, I heard that ORC's parent company actually makes fan clutches for air conditioning units. (I heard this from the US distributor for OS Giken). Again, this is what I heard,...I have yet to verify it.

Yeah they usually come with the push/pull adapter, but I found a used one without the adapter. I don't really want to pay $450 for the adapter new.

I'm not sure exactly. All I know is I have a b-type clutch...so I went to the local car parts store and ordered an FD3S OS Giken twin B Type Clutch rebuild kit(say that three times fast).

lol i tried talking to jason about this awhile ago but now my $$$$$$ situation has changed since the beginning of the year...so i cant really front the money for it now...act will work for my power levels now anyways...if jason can get me a super deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on the clutch then i will buy it but that SUPER DEAL needs to be freaking dirt cheap...then at least i can buy the clutch and get a rebuild kit later down the road.

Well, they cost an assload new...somewhere in the $2k range. However, they last a long time and hold tons of pressure...not sure how much torque they can hold though...but enough to hold Igy's Bridgeport Engine with 550+ rwhp.



They engage stiffer than a stock clutch, but they are 100% easier to drive than the ACT 6 puck/4puck or the centerforce stage 5.

I haven't had a chance to feel the OS clutch yet, but I can tell you that the Exedy twin plate is GREAT!! I love the way it felt. Plus the holding power is there in mass quantities. I would also like to know what the used OS units from Jason are going for and if they have the adapter kits with them or not. If not, how much extra is that gonna cost?? Thanx in advance.
