anyone used a FC1000? its reasonably priced and RX7.com seems to like them. and what about using 2 dual bosch coils Vs. 4 MSD blaster coils. i already have 2 i got for free, but is it worth it to get the bosch coils?

my friend (black93fd) has one never really asked him about it but it's kinda bulky just get the hks that's what I have it's so tiny. i really have no clue on the coil issue.

I have no clue also but for the cash your going to drop on the ingnition module and all the coils you might as well do the hks system, it plugs right in and supposed to be killer!! its the route im going once i rebuild my engine!

sen2two 12-27-2006 01:46 AM

the Fc1000 is half the price of the HKS system. and i heard it was equal or even better. really i just need coil pack ideas...

teamrj83 12-27-2006 03:31 AM

well heck why not then!! i had no idea it was half the cost?? i can get the hks unit for around 350. but heck if you have all the stuff i say do it and let us know how ya like it!

black93fd 12-27-2006 04:31 AM

okay the fc 1000 is a great system its like $135 from jegs its pretty esy to install as long as you are not intimidated of cutting into the wires that connect to the trailing coil pretty minor stuff though. also get rid of the leading coil that you have and buy a 2nd gen coil N/a TII or whatever they are all the same. run the wires and you will have a great ignition system. also the fc1000 was designed to work specifically with rotaries. if you end up get getting one let me know and I can send you some pics if you need them.

sen2two 12-27-2006 11:02 AM

so a second gen leading coil is better than the FD one? cause i have one just sitting here. its an NA S4 one. does that make a difference?

oh...and thanks for the jegs price. even cheaper! whats the difference between the fc1000 and 2000? only $40.00 difference. but if thats just for the rev limiter. i already got a Apex-i Power FC and im pretty sure it can be set with that.

and im ordering it as soon as i find the difference between the FC1000 and 2000. some pics would help too. thanks!

as far as the difference in the fc1000 vs the fc2000 I have no idea what the difference is I just know that I like the fc1000. Ari Yallon from rotary performance. he is pulling of high 9.2 quarters with a 13b-rew its the fastest street tire rx7 in the world and he uses it. (food for thought) I will try to get some pics A.S.A.P

good luck let me know how it goes

i have a tII so if i use this fc1000 with my stock coils its better then a msd unit? also i have seen many using 2 msd units would it be the same to get optimum spark one on both leading and trailing or is only one fc1000 used in place of 2 msd units? or would 2 be needed? sorry if i sound like an idiot thanks for your help

I don't mean to sound like I know a whole lot about the MSD system but I do know that they are bulky as hell my friend had it on his fd and it was big as a mofo. the fc1000 is smaller and as far as wether or not it is better or not than the MSD unit I don't really know but the fc1000 was designed around the rotary motor when Jacobs was running the company.they got bought out by some company, (can't remeber the name) as far as the coils on the second gen I don't know if the msd coils are better but the fd's leading coil had it limitations but the fc leading coil worked very well as a substitute when you make a bracket for it. don't worry about asking dumb questions that is how we all learn. God knows I asked a million!
