Hi,

I love my FD but sometimes it gets irritating.... Now i have had this problem for a while... What happens is that sometimes when i start my car and drive it..it hesitates under boost.. no matter how low.. even 1 psi... Even at a standstill if i press the accelerator quickly it sort of starts dying... like it cannot breath or something...

And other times it is fine... It happens like once in 20 days or less... but when it happens it gets irritating... i cannot boost.. the car can be driven but with a very carfeul right foot not to press the accelarator much.... It sometimes becomes ok when i turn it off and then on again... but it did not work today....

Anyone had this problem?? I have a brand new enigne do not want to hurt it....

This is irritating... Please help!!

Ignition break up, fuel cut, bad tuning, I'm just pulling these out of my ass. What are your mods?

9BASE3 12-10-2003 01:53 PM

Sounds like a short in the wiring harness to me... Hard to tell though..

Upgrade the ground straps to 4guage.

Replace the fuel filter

Clean the air filter if applicable ( general advice)

And replace the plugs.

Other than that Justin might have a good point or you can look into an ignition up grade.

My mods are Apex-i intakes, N1 Exhuast, Knightsports Downpipe, Greddy stock mounted intercooler... thats about it...

How do i check?? and if found do i need a new harness? or can this be fixed?

Ok i will upgrade the ground straps.. tomm.

fuel filter has less than 8000 kms on it.. should i change it?? it is not an OEM though

will clean the air filters tomm.

plugs are new.. have less than 200 kms on them...

The car in that situation does not take any boost.. without boost it runs.. but as soon as it gets any boost it starts dyeing(hesitating) so i have to let off the accelerator to keep it running... I have a Power FC with me should i install that... will it help in any way??

Thanks guys

Do everything else first.. Chances are it's not the wiring harness... But when you get a short it acts VERY similar. Sometimes it'll run fine, then it'll short and run all screwy and you'll never know what caused it..

Do all that was mentioned by the other guys first... THEN we'll talk about checking that beast. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Tried it did'nt work or me....

Cleaned the airfilter

will order the fuel filter tomorrow

will get the ground strap tomm.

its happening more now...

Can it be the MAP sensor... The car hesitates when its abut to reach postitve manifold pressure and does not go into positive manifold pressure in any gear.. can it be the ECU...

Please advise...

Rotorfreak 12-13-2003 03:37 AM

it is happening all the time now... it is rare that the car drives ok :(

Can it be a faulty ignition system??

I remember once my car was at the workshop for some maintainence work and another rx-7 came there i think with a similar problem.. his problem was his igniton system.... but starngely his problem got solved the very same day... i asked my mechanic what the problem was and he said the igition system... So i asked if they repaired it.. but they said they had an extra one with them... Now i am getting curious if they swapped our ignition systems....

How can i check

clogged cats?

DuMaurier 7 12-13-2003 01:57 PM

Did you pull any of the injectors ?, if so , did you repace the "O" rings ? , I had a similar problem once and it turned out to be leaky "O" rings allowing fuel to pass and flood the chambers whenever the fuel pressure went up , like when boosting .

DuMaurier 7 12-13-2003 01:59 PM

It can be a number of things , but from my experiences with the FC and FD its always something very simple .

clogged cats?

Can a clogged cat be fine sometimes?? And with a clogged cat, does it happen that the car does not take even 1 psi of boost? The exhaust pressure is alot less than it used to be...

This might be it... Will have it checked tomm. When the car sees boost it sort of misfires...does not go to even 1 psi of boost..

Thanks guys will have these things checked tomm. and update https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

Start with the small **** and work your way up, I would say it is spark related. Check the plugs and plug wires again. My car used to do the same thing, but mine had a water seal that went out. The plugs were alway getting cover with coolant and not working correctly.

i have just installed a new block.. so i think the injectors were removed... Please tell me its just to O rings... i feel helpless... the guy who installed the engine is currently out of town and i don't want anyone else to touch it... So i have to wait for him https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

I can drive it around the whole day without a problem... it just does not take any boost... which is good in a way cuz i am giving it the run-in... keeping it below 2200 rpms... It used to do this once in a while before but now its a constant problem..

Rotorfreak 12-24-2003 02:17 AM

ok tried everything.. installed a tps from a friends car did'nt work... swapped the boost sensor didn't help... changed the whole throttle body did'nt help...Had the injection system cleaned did'nt help... then with the elbow off the mechanic told me to rev the car and he sprayed some carb cleaner in the throttle body... the hesitation at that point went away... Can this conclude that the car is not getting fuel... Can it be the injector pulse from the ecu?? I will install the power fc tonite keeping my fingers crossed... Please help...

Still the car starts dying whenever i press the accelerator more than 25%... below that i can drive the car around the whole day without any problem....

Need help..........
