not looking to spend $900 on an oil cooler and lines.

and if i was to use one of these. what else would i need to finish it up???

Prices like that scare me. The line and fittings cost more that the sale price they are asking for. Did it fall out a truck???

mount brackets...t-stat.... ducting, an un-ducted aftermarket cooler is worse than a ducted stocker https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.gif

IF you have any sheetmetal and fiberglass skills, i'd recommend buying a pair of 19row Mocals and fabricate the rest.

GreyGT-C 06-21-2007 02:35 PM

btw, the one in teh second link is a Mocal 19 row.

im just gonna run my own lines and get a nice oil cooler. so just to make sure...

i would run one line from the oil filter deck to the oil cooler. and the other from the front cover to the oil cooler.

what are the thread sizes for AN line for the front cover and filter deck?

and should i run -10AN lines?

GreyGT-C 06-22-2007 10:30 PM

it's a metric to -an fitting/adapter... don't remember the ,etric size offhand.. but the other end is a -10AN. *IF* you don't run a t-stat in your oil setup... DO NOT rev the engine hard until it is fully warmed up.... cooler damage can occur!

sen2two 06-23-2007 08:58 AM

whats a t-stat???

and i gues i'll just carry the front cover and filter plate in with me when i get the lines made.

GreyGT-C 06-23-2007 09:27 AM

thermostat... the factory coolers have it built it. Aftermarket coolers do not.... which is why alot of people install Mocal T-stats. I run without one but drive it VERY easy until warmed up.

sen2two 06-23-2007 01:29 PM

i usually let my cars idle about 5 minutes before driving. if its the first time i will be driving that car that day. after that i let them idle for only about a minute.

You get what you pay for.

That oil cooler is smaller than the stock one.

And has already been pointed out, no t-stat.

Plus those are some funky looking lines and connectors.

The ads claim 'top quality, no corners cut' but conveniently neglect to name the connector and hose manufacturers names.

Buying all the parts for a decent dual oil cooler setup for an FD is ~ $700.

If you don't want to spend the $$ on that, you could always buy a used stock driver side oil cooler and add it on the passenger side.

Howard Coleman has written up how to do this on rx7club.com for < $200, just search for it.
