I only really use my car once every week, but recently I had the shrill buzzer of the coolant warning greet me on startup. So I opened the bonnet and checked the coolant level using the beige plastic dipstick syle filler cap. After checking several times It showed as being full, I was pretty puzzled so I removed the cap which is attached to the block and looked inside, I could see the coolant and it was just below the level sensor waterline(hence buzzing). So I refilled directly into the block entry point and cured the buzzing.



Since this happened I've been keeping a watchful eye for all the telltale signs of a seal failure but I get nothing, No sweet smelling smoke. After this sequence re-occuring a couple of times, I fill it to stop the buzzer, the coolant level in the rad(dipstick cap reading) get's higher.



So the reading is now above the maximum in the rad.



The car does not overheat or run hot it stays just below halfway on the stock temp gauge and 80 degrees on the after market gauge. The car had an engine rebuild only 12 months/2000 miles ago so it's in good shape.



The car is modified running an HKS single turbo at a sensible 0.75 bar for the road.



If anybody has any info on my problem It will be greatly recieved

Look into your caps. The one on the block and the one on the AST. Cheap to just change them both.



Look into cracked hoses, possible change of hoses from filler neck on block to AST and AST to overfill tank.



If you have it in the overflow but its not in the car, there is a suction leak, meaning somewhere its sucking air on not fluid.



Look into a change of fluid too. I always change ALL my fluids after the 1000mile break-in period, never know what was left inside the water jackets and hoses you know........



These are just some ideas to start with, lower cost is always the better ones to look into first you know...

true, i just remembered that my old car was doing that. it turned out to be a very small crack on the radiator cap gasket. it was very small but let coolant leak under pressure. (cue in david bowie and queen)

Now when you say radiator cap do you mean the cap which is closest to the alternator or another?

shoot i had a first gen, only 1 cap. check both to be on the safe side.

change both caps!

check if the clamps on the radiator are secure and in the proper place if its not the caps or the lines
