OK if some of you remember last month i had the flooded FD with water (not fuel) I tried to have a mazda U-Boat. anyway after all the mess and weeks of crying myself to sleep in the place where i park my car. I went though mazda (insurance and warranty) and i got a new core with some new parts and I just got it back. I was wondering when i can put on my cat back exhaust and downpipe.

need some advice ,

i know i have to baby the engine for like 3000 miles to let the apex seal form properlly. i was wondering if i put the exhaust on would that effact the apex seal forming, also what else should i be carfull with, with the new motor.

should i keep it under 4500 rpm for the 3000 miles, (hope i can do that)

Thanks for any help

I beleive the break-in period is less than that.. I think it was like 500 miles, and then change the oil.. It is less because the rotary engine spins faster than a piston engine so more wear is happening...

1k mile break in should be fine. just drive it gently

You got a reman? Hmmm... Sweet!

While we're on this.... (more dumb questions)

What's the point of break in for so long? I mean 500-1000 miles? A good days driving (maybe 40 miles?) a full warm up... Regular driving for a period of time should put the parts through the same break in as hundreds of miles, shouldn't it? I mean... for the most part it's the heat that will be doing all the work... shouldn't a day or 2 be enough? Oil will be everywhere it should... the parts should do all the expanding/contracting they need.... please explain.

Yea, basically a break in should be.. no boost for 1k miles and then your fine.

I dont see any reason you can put your mods back on now.

Like I said though no boost for 1k miles.

Yeah but gradually increase boost after 1000K...

The way I see it... I'd say no boost for the first 500 miles... light increasing to moderate until 1000 miles then moderate to full boost after 1000 miles... that's MY plan..

I hear so many different ways... I hear some people say "BREAK IN?, just drive it around a couple of miles and your good to go" BAH WTF?? Then I hear 1500 miles?? 2000 miles?? anyway..

ok thanks

damn no boost for 1000 miles. that like going out with a hot chick who doesnt belive in sex b4 marriage. either way it'll feel that much better in the end.

i wouldnt really know though i dont have too much patience, my 500mile break-ins are more like 300 low boost and 200 with 95%throttle then 100% nonstop

Everyone has their own way..baby it for about 500 miles and then just drive it like a normal car...avoid races and once you get used to it...have fun.

100 miles change the oil

1000 more miles change the oil and add parts

then do maintaince like normal... best to wait 1000 miles before u start building it
