hey everyone, just got back from the steve kan tuning session in atlanta, i think i did fairly well on the dyno especially with a "safe" tune, anyways here the numbers, 426rwhp and 340tq at 13.5pounds on pump gas, only reason we didnt keep turning the boost up is we had some technical issues with my boost controller but that will be fixed soon and we"ll see what it can do at 20-25pounds on race gas, mods are as follows

"jd"boostn7" Ported motor

Greddy T78

850/1200injectors

blitz fmic

Greddy Type-Rs bov

full exhaust

powerfc

greddy profec b boost controller

Nice numbers. I like the fact that it was on that low of boost. I was considering that turbo for my street ported RE. What's the spool like on that turbo?

Those numbers seem a little to good to be what you refer to as a "safe tune" I am curious what the A/F's were?

It's got to be close to 12.1 to make that power on a T78 at 13psi.

Has the T78 been modified?

Either way those are great numbers. Enjoy! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

T78 is not known for it's quick spool up. I have not had one but I would expect you see 13psi around 4000-4200rpm?

you hit it on the head i see full boost at arond 4000 and change, but i also have a healthy port so i dont know when it would spool on a stock motor..... As for a the afr i dont rember off the top of my head, but trust me it was a very rich tuned i told steve to leave it rich to account for maybe bad gas, or me beatin on it etc... when it pulled the 426rwhp he wanted to keep pushin it at 13pounds and see what he could pull out, but i reminded him about keeping it safe so he left it alone.. and its a bone stock t78 from greddy.. illl have the dyno sheet up as soon as a figure out how to scan it up....

I'd like to see it but again I have my doubts about a rich air fuel and those numbers on a t78@ 13psi. Even with the street port.

The a/f ratio was very conservative being around 11.2:1 a/f. We made 371rwhp at 11psi. The 426rwhp was actually more like 15-16psi at mid range and taper down to 13.5-14psi. I think most of it has to do with the porting since this is one of the few T78 cars that actually held up the torque up to 7.5k rpm. We were having issues with the boost not holding at higher rpm so we pretty much stop at that point since the hp goal exceeded his expectation (400rwhp is all he wanted).

Fd3BOOST 05-16-2006 09:04 AM

That makes a lot more sense now that we know it was made at 16psi and not 13 psi. My 430 dyno was spiked to 16psi also but I said so up front.

I thought it was going to be something like that. Thanks for clearing that up.

pluto 05-17-2006 09:15 AM

was your measurement (peak hp) logged to be 16psi or lower? The reason why showoff said 13.5psi was because at peak hp, the boost shows 13.5psi. so at 16psi, it would be alot higher (probably 470rwhp). I only brought the boost up to help bring the high rpm boost level higher. it really doesn't matter if I bring it to 30psi and it drops down to 13.5psi at the end. the peak hp result is still 13.5psi. and not the peak boost. If we were to talk about torque, I would say it differently since that was probably around 16psi.

Steve I don't know for certain but I assume my peak on that 430hp run was at 16psi. From what I do know the boost control was set for 15psi. Ray said it spiked to 16. So I just say it's 16psi.

So here is that one dyno.

Then this other at 424hp we did about three weeks later. This dyno run was made after the car was found to have low compression on the rear and now the engine is out.
