I have a 93 rx7 with 32000mi on it and in great condition. Right now it has a RB air inlet duct, a greddy cat back, boost guage, and turbo timer. I want to get rid of the RB duct and get an M2 box, a downpipe, M2 (leaning towards medium) intercooler, fluidyne radiator, and then an m2 remapped ecu. I don't want a power fc or something like that because i really don't know how to use them and I just want something in the range of 310-350 hp while being reliable.



I can't get the intercooler for a few months because i want to get the radiator and AST bypass kit before i put the rest of the stuff in. Should I wait to put the M2 air box, downpipe and intercooler in at the same time, or if i get the stage 3 ecu upgrade is it ok to have all the stuff in there and then drop the intercooler in next spring(i live in upstate ny...way too cold up here...anyway, so its being stored nov-march)?



Am i ready for these upgrades, or would it be smarter to get some other things or a knock sensor before i do this. I want more than 60,000 out of my engine, but also def want to add some power to it, esp. some low end torque. Also, what would be the performance difference if i went with the large intercooler instead of the medium.



Just one more, what is the best downpipe to get, are the manifold studs likely to break when I install it?

With the cat-back, intake, and ECU stage 3 chip, but without the intercooler, you'll be running pretty rich. M2 does have a stage 2 version, I believe. Maybe they will let you got stage 2 and then switch it to stage 3 when you install the intercooler.



I did the cat-back and intake first, and then did the intercooler, downpipe, and ECU chip. You didn't mention the downpipe. If you haven't removed the pre-cat already, you really should think about doing that first.



I'm not sure you need the large intercooler. The medium is a pretty significant change. Remember, with the large you have to move the battery. I'm currently running an Optima 51R battery in a stainless steel battery box. There's lots of room between the battery and the intercooler, but not enough room for a large intercooler.

Yes, if you do a downpipe and a high flowing exhaust you'll run a bit lean. If you do just the downpipe but have the stock catback you'll be ok.



My suggestion: Play it safe and wait until you have all your parts together for the M2 Stage 3 package and then do it all at once. That's what I did and it worked well. Took me a year to collect all the parts used and gather them together.



I did the M2 large intercooler. If you do a lot of track racing it might be worth it. For street I'm sure you're fine with the medium. I did relocate the battery and it's pretty easy to do especially if you with the Optima batter M2 sells that fits perfectly in the rear storage bin.

Yes, the general rule of thumb is that you can do two breathing mods before you need to upgrade the ECU, so since he already has the intake and cat-back, doing the downpipe will put him in the danger zone.



As I said, I did intake and cat-back first, then did the rest of the M2 stage 3 modes at the same time.
