Ok as some of you know my car began running very strange last weekend. It didn't idle strong and even after properly warming it up it took it a few minutes on the road to start running somewhere near normal. It was suggested by some members to change spark plugs and the wires since it seemed it was misfiring, so I did that last night and after doing so let the car run and drove it after it was warm. It still didn't idle correctly it was better but still not right. I drove it, got gas, went up to the local speed shop to talk to a friend of mine and while it was sitting there it began idling at 2000 rpm and wouldn't drop no AC on no heat just the car running, at that point I decided to head home and on the way home I noticed the temp gauge rise up significantly while I was just sitting at a light I checked all my coolant hoses at home thinking maybe i'd forgotten to reattach one but that wasn't it. so if anyone has an idea of my problem that could help me out I'd appreciate it.

I thought it'd be an easy fix since most people agreed it sounded like spark plugs but it almost seems if it's idling high the computer is trying to make up for lean conditions as if possibly an injector is clogged or my fuel filter is really clogged. My oil needs to be changed so I'm going to go ahead and drain all the oil including the oil from the oil coolers, but old oil is not my problem I'm fairly certain. As I said any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys

Additionally..... a while ago I started the car and let it run for about 15 minutes. No temperature change, and then it started shooting black smoke out of the tail pipe on top of the rough idle..... any ideas?

you popped off a vacuum hose. a vacuum leak will make a high idle....

would that explain the clouds of black smoke and the rough idle though? sorry I don't wanna seem like moron here I guess I'm just freakin. I'm getting new hoses in the mail next week since the hoses on there now are a bit old so hopefully that'll help. Would it be smart for me to go get some of that injector cleaner too and put that in with the tank of gas I have in there now?
