This is quite long, but i really need some help....



I just put in silicone hoses on my engine and a new fluidyne radiator, it has 32000 miles on the original engine. My vacuum was 20in before i put them in, but my turbos only got 5psi. So i decided to replace the vacuum hoses and check the Y-pipe coupler for cracks. When I start it now I get 10in vacuum and haven't driven it at all, only idled it. Its really cold out and the last time i started it was 2 weeks ago and the time before that was probably 2 weeks before that. The reason i say that is because there was a LOT of white smoke coming out of the exhaust...before I did all this, It started to smoke alittle at start up when it began getting cold out and reaked of fuel (this went away after about 5 minutes).



I haven't left the car on for any more than 2 minutes because I saw that I was only getting 10in vacuum and the extension manifold was shaking like a muther. Anyway, the smoke is really really thick and theres alot of it. The manifold used to shake a good amount before i got to regular temps, but the shaking now is really violent.



Also, the worm clamp i put in to connect the Y pipe to the rubber coupler is wedged between the rubber and the air pump. I am going to remove all necessary parts to get it unwedged because i know the airpump will cause alot of vibrations against that.



could my engine be blown?



or could i have not reconnected some hose?



also, my car hasn't been hitting 3k rpm when i start it up cold, it used to but stopped after i put in new spark plugs, this was a problem before i did the hoses as well. It struggled some, but drove really well before doing all this. Now when i started it, at first it did the same thing, then i realized i forgot the clamp on the intake elbow hose. I started it and it went a little above 3k rpm, I blipped the gas and it fell to around 2k rpm, the vacuum was still at 10.



ya, one more thing, my brake pedal is really tight and is hard to push down. I checked the brake booster hose that goes into the manifold and there is no check valve in it, i don't think there was before, but i'm going to get one and put it in there, idk if this will solve this issue?

One more thing, i know i forgot to put the pills back in the two hoses that need them, i am planning on putting these back in when i fix the hose clamp issue i have.

id certainly retrace the lines to make sure none have been either crossed or missed..

btw your secondary wont generate the proper psi if the primary is not above 8 pounds..

check your double throttle...

as far as the fuel smell... exhaust or ebay

and the white smoke produced during startup... lingers or dissapates

You probably have a vacuum leak somewhere. Check the upper intake manifold gasket and make sure there are no open nipples. You could try spraying carb cleaner to find the source of the leak. If the rpms drop when spraying a certain area, the leak must be somewhere nearby.

The smoke lingers around until after i shut the car off, i can feel some air blowing from near the throttlebody/intake elbow, i'm not sure if thats normal, i doubt it is. Anyway, i did put new uim and throttle body gaskets in, is there a certain order i'm supposed to tighten the bolts on the manifold to ensure a tight seal?



I'm in detroit right now for the holiday, i won't be back in ny till sunday, so i can't go out to the car and check things out right now, i won't be able to until the following weekend, but advice and ideas/thoughts are greatly apppreciated

Tighten them from the outside in and do the one in the middle 3rd.

Its not really that critical that you follow any certain order though.

I would do just what Ihor suggested.

just do a comparessoin check. if thats fine, then it is a vaccum leak, and look harder, or just take off the intake manifold and check everything 3 times.

Ok, before i ask another question about this, i'm doing a compression check and rechecking the hoses tuesday and wednesday this week.



I was reading past posts on this forum and that other forum and started reading about flooding. When I put my car into the garage a couple weeks ago to do my hoses, i cold started it (it was probably 32 degrees out) on the driveway and brought it into the garage and shut it off probably 20 seconds after i turned it on in the driveway. Anyway, after I did the hoses and then went to crank the car after finishing, it took about six seconds to crank and then when it finally caught I was gettin 10 in of steady vacuum and A Ton of white smoke/rough idle.



So could any of this be because I may have flooded it, also i took out the spark plugs when i was doin the hoses and they were really black, and maybe wet i can't remember. The spark plugs were brand new (had about 50 miles on them). So any ideas?



Also would white smoke occur if its flooded? sorry for the long reply

i figured i would end this thread because i hate when i find threads and u hear the problem but never the solution or what was wrong....



Ya so it ended up that i plugged my map sensor hose into the nipple looking thing on the throttle body (which has no hole haha just a solid nipple)....so when i started taking it apart i was like hey wait i'm only supposed to have two hoses into the throttle body......problems fixed! well besides the brake problem...THANK GOD!!
