Guys, I need help bad: My FD has been down for 8 months now. Due to financial situations I had to replace my entire main harness myself. What happened is that a few moths ago I hit a pothole and tire rubbed on the wiring harness, eating through 4 wires all the way around the front of the car, to the fusebox and relays. I didnt drive my car when it happened but I turned it on once and had unsteady idle and brakes would come and go. After installing the new harness, the car doesnt crank at all. Everything works, wipers, lights, dash. I have checked over and over again and all connectors are where they are supposed to be and none are extra ( except for the cruise control which i dont have because its an R1 ). I have also checked all the fuses. When I turn the key all lights go on and stay on, the Check Engine light, ABS light, the add coolant light and etc...
Can anyone give me any type of guidance? Thanks Vic |
wow that's rough! all your grounds are on ?
|
Yeah Vosko,
All the grounds I saw are connected. It is rough man, have had the car for 3 yrs and Ive only driven the car for a total of maybe 5 months. Vic |
is the problem you don't have money to bring it to a shop ?
where did you get the new harness ? |
that most of been a hell of a pothole
|
well i have heard of this happening before usually with aftermarket rims and tires that don't fit correctly.....
|
Yeah, no cash right now.
I bought the harness from someone who bought another FD for parts. A good freind of mine has bought over 3k in parts off the guy and had no problems, he seems serious. Ive done most of the hard work and Im trying to avoid taking it to a shop again due to financial reasons. It might be something simple but I just dont know. Thanks for response Vosko. Im definately not getting rid of the car, love it too much, from the time I first bought my 83 RX-7. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
True,
My stupidity with rims and tires, and all the construction that was going on in City Island in the Bronx. |
i can try and help but i never had the exact same problem ........

Have you tried a 12V test lead onto the starter solenoid to make sure it's not seized up? 8 months of sitting can cause them to seize up.
If not, have you checked all the plugs to the gearbox in your harness? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a start inhibit if the gearbox is in gear? Good luck! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png |
