hey, wondering what causes the popping sound coming from the exhaust when you get on it. is it just from needing tuning or can you restrict the airflow a little bit to fix it?

Is this when your accelerating or when you take your foot of the pedal?

foot off the pedal

My old one used to pop, but I didn't know what caused it. Current one just has a nice deep burble to it when I take my foot off. Sorry this isn't helping you much really.

Is it quite a loud pop?

pwwatkins 10-28-2005 05:39 PM

no its not really loud, pry a lot of people have had it. i just wondered if there was something i could do about it cuz it sounds kinda crappy.

If your using the stock ECU like me, it's tuned a bit rich from the factory for safety. That alone will cause the occasional muffled back-fire in my exhaust. Especially when the engine is cold or on a very cool morning, like we're having now in the midwest. It goes away when the car is fully warm.

There are alot of variables, like what type of exhaust you have and other mods, that affect how loud. And it depends on whether you're coming off WOT or just casually going through the gears.
