just got my greddy fmic today with bov. ok so i dont know where to start ive never fabricated or cut into anything for my car so this is a new experience.
is there anyone who has made braces to mount their rad vertivcally who could make me a set so i dont have to ziptie and duct tape the crap outta this crap like when me and martin put his intercooler in my car. if it dont cost too much i would definatly love to have someone send me some prefabed brackets anyway here are some pics |
these things were pretty greasy and the insides had a nice thick coating of gunked up oil makin em pretty unsexy... so i hot bathed em in some dish wash soap and a laundry basket with hot water now they sparkle

heres the intercooler i didnt know what to use to clean it, styrofoam(wow im a bad speller) was caught up inside so i flushed it with hot soapy water a few times from either side and let it dry in the sun for a few hours its laying next to a dehumidifier right now hopefully that will get all the moisture out

instead of duck tape.... how bout jb weld?..... just a thought |
hit me up im down for a lil road trip. although ive been going to juns house to work on their car for teh longest. and hes only a 20 min drive away.lol
hair dryer in the opening will help dry it out
if you want to add brackets so that you can use it to bolt to the car you can buy some aluminum and tin snips from a metal supply shop like metal supermarket. They charge by weight.
Then get some JBweld, clean teh surface with acetone, tape off any area you do not want the epoxy to get to, then apply and let it sit. If you are still worried about strength of JBWELD (I WOULD NOT) you can try 3M DP460 high strength epoxy. It is stronger then using real welds in some cases. IT will cost you. |
well people that dont know how to weld has very little choice
or just duct tape
duct tape tied in a knot is even better
if you are going to get it welded, make sure they know what they are doing, aluminum is the hardest thing to weld, i know i fucked up some **** in metal shop learning, haha
Making some RAD brackets is really not a big deal!
im prolly gonna go for this jb weld idea.
treceb were u at the DD meet? i forgot if ive met u b4 |
yeah paco (treceb) was the owner of the mazdaspeed wheels with the montego blue fd
yea yea yea paco u werent there for too long but i remember u
the GReddy FMIC is a bitch to install... make sure you make some nice clean cuts on your bumper. pipes are easy to figure out since they have arrows.. but one of them i think u can flip around to fit better.. dunno for sure... been over a year since i installed one.
I'm confused...what are you going to JB weld?

the pipes are nubered and arrowed, so getting them in the right order shouldnt be too hard
