Ok so I decided to sell my car for another one. I found the one I want and I am in the process of making an add for it for ebay. I figured I would take it out one more time before I put it to rest. And I floor it on the main road here and all of a sudden no boost gauge. I know this isn't major since I can still hear boost going into my eninge. Just seems quiter. Any Ideas on how to fix this? Boost gauge needle just sits at 0 PSI https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

Or you popped a hose coupler...

pengaru 01-09-2003 03:02 PM

this seems kindof silly why are you getting rid of the car? All FD's are quirky like this, it's like owning a lotus, at least until you've done all the mods and simplified the car quite a bit (aftermarket engine management, single turbo, etc..) even then they are still relatively complex... compared to say a plain ole NA. Didnt you just put a new clutch in it? seems kinda fickle to me.

Yah, dude! Tuff it out!

vosko 01-09-2003 04:04 PM

nobody has as bad luck me. why bother swapping one car with a problems for a car that might be even worse!

Joe Flo 01-09-2003 04:40 PM

Haha...Umm First off I am not dumping the car off because of something as dumb as this!! I need an automatic for where I live. Alot of downtown stop and go driving and alot of hills. But can anyone tell me how to fix this? Is it hard?

awww, man....

stick with the manual https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png you'll get used to it. you have to find out if it's the gauge or a major intake/vacuum/boost leak.

maybe you popped an intake tube off, or vacuum line(s). Get out the vacuum diagram and follow all the lines, make sure they're all connected.

Joe Flo 01-09-2003 04:47 PM

okay thanks.....Its not just because of the manaul. My car has 60,000 miles!! And alot of mods. I just need the car to get me from A to B. I would rather the car be with someone who wont put alot of miles on it and someone who can race the hell out of it!

my fd must be the only one on the planet that was not fickle, it never gave me any trouble

mine was rock solid for 3 years, then the engine blew :( but compared to everyone else 3 years of not 1 problem is amazing

well, I was sayin that joe flo was seeming fickle https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

fd's are just touchy, especially in stock form, it seems.

j9fd3s 01-09-2003 06:59 PM

haha.....yeah. I really do think my car hates me. We didn't start out on the right foot. My girlfriend was jelousof the car so I had to park it for a few days. I went out of town for 2 weeks. And then realized that the car just wasn't me! So maybe it will find someone it does like. Anybody want a FD?

Havoc 01-09-2003 08:04 PM

Stunned I am, how can you bring yourself to part with it? **** man all I did for the first 2 months was fix mine, but I never considered selling it.

You just cant buy anything that compares to an FD's performance and looks for the money.

As far as miles on the clock...who cares, just drive it and enjoy it. I was paranoid for a few months over my mileage too, but I realised I really, really, enjoyed driving it and driving it puts the miles on. Cant change that. I never bought it to sit in my garage, I bought it to drive (and show off).

Dude the manual thing is something you will learn to love. Autos are for Grandmas, ppl with 1 foot and fat bastards who eat McDonalds while driving.

Joe Flo 01-09-2003 08:15 PM

I am not getting rid of the Rx-7!!!! It is a car I love. I am merely just trading it in for a little bit more abused one. Still gonna be driving an FD in the end!!

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png I dont really get why you would do that??? most ppl I know look to trade up cars not down. Why the hell do you want a more abused FD? I thought you wanted less problems not more.

Feck man am I missing the point here or somethin?

Joe Flo 01-09-2003 09:11 PM

Yeah I think everyone is. You see I found another FD for $6000 less then what I paid for the one I have now. It has almost 20,000 more miles but it comes in black which is a color I like. Plus it is an automatic which I guess is something I am going to need for the drving I do. And with the difference in price I am going to buy a warrenty which covers anything if it breaks down. That way I wont have to worry abou it! Alot less of a hassle in the end.

Havoc 01-09-2003 09:16 PM

ah. I see. okz. nice.

Joe Flo 01-10-2003 01:59 PM

Well I took the car out again a few minutes ago just to get some much needed attention. Got a couple of races in their but nothing worth talking about (v6 mustang and old 240sx). When I got home I figured I would try to fix my car and when I pop the hood I was lucky enough to see the hose sticking up. Seemed too easy to fix. I already Know I am going to miss this car even the stick! Its alot of fun drving manual but it seems I can only enjoy it when their isn't anybody out on the roads!
