My RX7 only has 29,000 on it. A 1993 model. Gets very little use. The test printout showed HC 0.62gpm CO 17.85gpm NOx 0.98gpm On this test, the CO were high. Should read 15.00 gpm or lower. My mechanic added some cleaner to my gas tank and told me to ride it hard before another retest.
Didn't really run it too hard and brought it back for another dyno test. This time the readings were: HC 0.97gpm[went up] CO 26.93gpm[went up] and NOx 0.51gpm [went down] Failed the HC and CO this time. What can I do [inexpensively] to pass this N.Y. emissions test. By the way, the car runs GREAT. Except for the test readings all appears to be fine. Please HELP. thanks, Burt. |
just make sure you rag the **** outta it before bringing it to emissions to make sure both your catalytic converters are HOT HOT HOT and working...

well first thing is to make sure the center of the airpump pulley spins at idle, they use an electric clutch and its possible its disconnected, or the fuse blew. the air pump is a key smog part
