I'm facing a possible move to CA and I'm worried about my cars. I am sure that neither will pass CA smog. One's a 93 and the other's a 94, so they're both fairly 'new' and will need to be smogged. The 94 is a mustang, btw. The FD has been slightly modified (full exhaust, non-seq conversion, apexi intake, power FC). This thing runs RICH down low and I am sure will peg virtually all meters employed by the smog stations. Short of selling all my cars - how do you guys get smogged? I've read about 600 hp mustangs roaming around CA, how the heck do they get smogged? Is there a 'special' station that you guys all use? I can't believe that everyone in CA goes stock. I'll be moving to the LA area.

Thanks!

Please no flames for killing the environment and such.

change the seeting on the car

-- just kill the turbos

make the boost contolers bleed off any pressure so you don`t have to run rich

-- Get a new cat

if you car has over 50,000 miles and a pre cat (no downpipe) replace them both

-- GO to lighing in a world of thunder they have tips on the how to plug up the fuel collection line or what ever that thing is called that release collect fuel back into you engine to you don`t pass

-- HK CDI ignition system

burn up 100% of you gas so you don`t have to worry about unspend fuel leaving you pipes

-- tune down your lower rpms so they don`t run rich

good luck

Join your local CA RX-7 Club, go to a meeting or two and talk to some of the guys there. Get the hook-up. Drop 300-500 bucks every two years and be done with it. Probably not the best option for a stock to mildly modded car, but if you have caught the HP fever than it will be very costly or time consuming if you want to do it legit.

Jack - thanks for the info. That may be the best option for me as I plan to keep the FD more or less untouched for forever https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png. The mustang has been vigorously worked over, however, and that is the car I am most concerned about passing. I'll have to look up the local RX7 club - know if there are any in the LA/Torrance area? I believe Oxnard is about an hour north of LA, correct?

if you have the stock ports, air pump and main cat it should pass out the tailpipe
