Has anyone tried this? hopefully no one flips out on me about this:) Ive done a search and cant find anything about it. Alot of dsms have done this, in fact, my tsi has it done. I know , I know, its a supras smic, but it can handle around 400 hp, which should be a great upgrade for the stock rx7 smic. What do you guys think? If I was in St.louis, and had an rx7 I would rip the MKIV smmic out of my tsi and try stuffing it in the rx7, but i dont, so someone else do it. I can find out the dimensions if need be, for it to fit in my talon I had to flip one of the end tanks around, If this works Im selling my dsm with its stock IC:)

Get the dimentions of the MKIV SM and I'll measure my FD SM. I've never heard of this being done, though. Also, I wonder what the benefits are? Is it full metal construction? You say it's good to 400HP, but that's not really a rating.. I'm sure you could put 400HP out without an I/C on some cars. The issue really is pressure and temperature differential.

No, the end tanks on the Supra IC are plastic just like the FD. I don't see how it would be much of an upgrade, especially since the IC duct is the only thing that makes the smic in the FD work efficiently. You would have to figure out how to route your IC piping all over, fabricate some way to mount it, and probably modify or make a whole new IC duct. I can't comment on the Supra IC's efficiency or pressure drop/flow rate vs. the FD.

I ment efficent up to about 400 hp, the flow rate is 496ci , it seems some people have been running it at 23psi+ and not had any probs with the end tanks, so i dont see why plastic end tanks matter. And one guy was running 25psi with no knock.

evedently with endtanks on it is 16x13x6 ... .... And the outlets are 2.5 inches, but it seems some are 2.75. I hope thats enough info, Im not sure about the size or space limits of the stock rx7 ic, but if some one gets the chance they should try using this ic in some sort of setup, if they have acess to one for cheap that is. Alot of dsm guys are buying them up though, so i dont know what the prices are anymore, i think the supra guys got wind of people using them as an upgrade.

I tried it.

My friend got a new FMIC for his Supra, so I took his stock IC.

I does not fit for our cars. It's too big, tall. Not enough space.

I returned it to him yesterday. Sigh..

The IC is pretty beefy though. Twice as big as the FD one. Maybe even 3 times bigger.

A good FMIC is worth the investment.
