Well this morning I finally finished my vacuum hoses. To my knowledge all the hoses are correctly placed, I checked and double checked each one along with a friend. After we got it all put back together I started it. Big mistake... The car idles real bad (jumps from 2 to 3 grand and the brake pedal doesn't work. I have no clue why... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif
During the vacuum hose replacement I changed the following: Plugs Plug wires (made sure they were in all the way) Changed oil Double throttle elemination (plugged all hoses but did hook up the solenoid harness) recharged my K&N filter Any recoomindations??? The oil pressure light was on breifly and then the pressure stayed kinda high. I also have a Air/Fuel ratio guage and it never moved at all during the idle jumping. |
MAP sensor plugged on tight?
Do you have a boost gauge? How much vaccum are you showing? What vaccum did it show prior to the hose job? |
I need to go back and look at the map sensor, that check valve might be backwards. My vacuum still looked the same as before. Still about 15-16.
|
It's not the map sensor. I checked it. I'm wondering now if my boost controller might have something to do with all this. I didn't check the settings after I hooked the battery back up....
|
My guess is you got a pretty bad vaccuum leak, the break pedal not working would be an even better indicator of that, time for a 3rd run through I would say :(
|
LMFAO...did you check the hose going to the brake booster? That will cause you to have weird brake feel AND lumpy/high idle.
|
Thanks for the input! I'll go and check that right now.

good stuff...This happened to me too. That's why I know what to do https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

That's cool as **** man!
You're one lucky bastard jspec mentioned that beofre you started tearing back into that SOB. Sometimes it just takes any extra set of eyes(or ears in this case) to bring common sense into focus! Keep us posted on your dbouble throttle elim - I've been debating it for a while..... GEB |
do the double throttle elimination. There's no point in having it...
|
The only thing I've noticed since the double throttle elimination is that the car idles higher. I don't know if it's something else or that but anyway it idles at 2 grand when I come to a stop. I can give it a little throttle and the idle will come down to 1500rpms. I'm not complaning because before it got bogged down every once and a while and died on me at a red light. So far so good!
|
Medium Problem!
Didn't change anything, intentionally, just drove around for a couple miles below 3000 rpm, but when I pulled back in and parked the idle was jumping back and forth from 1200 to 1400. I asked rfreeman and he pointed me to the map sensor, which unfortunately was hooked up still--although the hose looked kinda old, it might have cracks on it I can't see. Didn't notice any weird brake feel, anything else to try? |
haveing same problem where is break booster??? also when i turn on my lights the idle goes to a steady 2500 any ideas.
