Never heard it ping or noticed any thing unusual yesterday. But after getting home after a trip to town I parked it and the idle was getting lumpy. I adjust it to get it smoothed out some. It seemed ok. I just went out and start it up. It wont even stay runnig now. I wish i knew when it blew if it did. I will have to compression test it later today.
Well at least I made it through the summer. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png I'll be back https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png |
You did better than me Dave...I had 2 engine's blow up during this summer https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png This engine seems to be strong though...except for the exxon valdez I call my driveway https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif
Do a quick poorman's compression test. Check the plugs too. They might just be fouled https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif |
I am about to pull the plugs.
We shall see. |
NOOOOOOOOO

I knew ALL THREE TIMES I blew my motor...I could feel it... Especially the 2nd one. That one was the worst. It just gave out. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif

Did you check the obvious stuff? plugs, map sensor, etc...
Pull out the purple box and run the stock computer, see if it will idle then. My car did the exact same thing, and sounded like it was running on 1 rotor, I hooked up the stock computer and everything was good. |
Plugs are definitely fouled.
Not sure why. Map sensor is connected. Fuel pump relay is still good. Notr sure . I gotta run to the doctors for an appointment but i am picking up some plugs and a compression tester while i am out. Crossing my fingers. I was going to race Sunday.. |
Oh, and I had my poor sick wife out there turning the car over for me.
I had the rear housing plugs both out and had her cranking it over. It sounds like good strong puffs and is spitting out dark oily looking gas https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif Not sure why the gas was so oily looking. I was just hoping not to see any metal shavings or flakes and I didnt. So i am starting to think that maybe it isnt blown and I have something else going on. Any thoughts? I will be back with more later . |
If the map sensor dies will it have the same symptoms?
|
The plugs look pretty bad. Good luck...
|
Now do the same for the front rotor
|
good luck dave, i hope its not blown
|
I'm tellin you man pull out that goddamn purple box if compression sounds good

Anyway I am now suspecting the coils. I have been aware that they have been dying for a while now. Yesterday I noticed a distinctive gas odor. My guess is that the coil has died and is not firing. Thats my guess at this point. I couldnt find a cheap compression tester. I will just go grab one from my dads house. But i am almost certain that the engine is fine. Its gotta be the coils. Luckily I have a spare set. |
****, Dave, just go standalone and get that shitbox of a piggyback out of the bling.

Well WTF happened?
I guess the motor is blown or you're just busy I also have a mini crisis with my car...it's gushing out oil from the front cover |
uh no.. he fixed it already.. it was a bad coil.. there was another thread around here somewhere..
|
atleast it messed up when its nice and cold outside!!! jk
if you got compression its something else.... could be coils or the igniters too |
I hope your engine isn't blown man. I just have one question: How can you check compression with regular compression tester? I thought Rotaries use that special one? Is it even possilbe to test it?
I know on my old FC T2, I tried it once and on 138k it showed all 6 on all 4 holes (spark plug holes https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ) So how accurate is this? |
His engine isnt blown. It was the coils or igniters, i forget which.
