alright, my brother is going to get a dealer's liscense and start dealing performance cars (i.e. supra, rx-7, mustang cobra, corvette, whatnot) BUT he is too afraid to buy a 3rd gen because EVERY SINGLE ONE he comes across has had an engine replacement before 60k miles...he wants to know wtf, and i don't know what to tell him!!! please convince him that it's worth it to buy one! (because i'd get to drive it!)

unless you know exactly what to look for, do not under any circumstances try to be an rx7 dealer. you would not believe the garbage that turns up at auction. the fd is not the only car like this, but it is a car where you can bring home a 40-50k miles car and the only thing thats in good shape is the odometer.

heres what you do. make it YOUR job to be able to look at an rx7 (well any car really), and be able to tell

A) if its been in an accident, just about every fd has. an most body shops do about a c to d- job fixing them

B) tell by looking if it has big mechanical problems. we just worked on one where it looked like they tossed the motor in and hooked it up enough to run, barely. it required everything be taken off the top off the engine and put back correctly.
