ok ive been doing some work to my car lately and now i have a problem where a number of things dont turn on when i turn my key to accessory or on, the fuel pumps will kick in and if i have my lights on they will turn on when the key is switched to accessory and all my aftermarket gauges come on but the factory gauge cluster doesnt come one, none of the illumination on all the switches or dash come on and the starter doesnt kick in when the key is turned to start. i pulled my dash out before this happened so im guessing im missing a plug somewhere but i cant find anything but a ground with a clip bolted to the dash frame right above the transmission tunnel on the drivers side (RHD), i did pull out the stereo and all the air components, so im not sure if thats what the ground was for. checked all the fuses and they all look good, anyone know what the ground is for or any electrical plugs that would control everything thats now powering on? thanks for the help

I would hook up the ground just for peace of mind. There are four large connectors of varying shades of blue behind the dash, two on each side. These are the most important hook ups. Check to make sure none of the wires got pulled out of the connectors under the steering wheel for the ignition and combination switch. I'm sure I'll think of more later but that's off the top of my head. All my interior is removed including the dash and the stock gauge panel is resting on top of the steering column until I get the time to make a new dash.

hey thanks for the reply. the ground is bolted to the dash frame and has a black clip on the other end so it is already grounded, but has nothing on the other end, its just one single back wire by itself about 10-12 inches long, i was just going over all my blue connectors and the ones under the steering column and made sure they were plugged in securely but i will go and look closer and make sure no wires are pulled out, i really think it would have to be that ground but i just have no idea where it goes to, dont remember unplugging it, are you making your dash out of aluminum? i thought about making one for my car but once you pull all the ducting out and everything else it didnt seem to weigh much anyways

figured it out, the ignition problem ended up being a connector that i missed and the starter problem is from me cleaning up all the extra wiring from whoever owned it in japan who must of had a button start in it, it was the only wire i couldnt trace to the source

Lol was it the plug to the fuse box? If so I did the same thing the first time I pulled it out. I have a friend with several sheets of aircraft grade aluminum and he has a press and English wheel. He also has several old gauge/switch panels from old aircraft that I'm going to integrate with the dash
