what size cone filters fits on the stock intake tubes? i cant stand the stock airbox anymore, its out and its staying that way.

DeaconFrost 05-21-2004 04:44 PM

I think they are 2.5-2.75...but I could be wrong.

FD3S DRIFT 05-21-2004 07:13 PM

they are like 2.5 or 2 7/16.

does anyone have a part #

twinturborx7pete 05-22-2004 01:01 AM

buy the a'pexi intakes https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

twinturborx7pete 05-22-2004 04:20 PM

apexi intakes won't fit with any of the aftermarket intakes... cept the greddy small one... i had them, had to sell them... nice filters though.. but you can make your own intake kit for 30-40$.

i haven't had a chance to take pics yet.. but i'll get to it this weekend.

FD3S DRIFT 05-22-2004 06:46 PM

thanks man.

After I installed my greddy FMIC my air filter options were limited. I bought a Pettit recharge kit (2 K&N cone filters, one with a curved connector) and connected the filters to the turbo inlets directly. Initially I was going to connect them to the stock rubber lines, but it seemed pointless since this would position the filters right behind the radiator. The curved filter is on the front turbo, curving up and out towards the shock tower. I had to bend the cone in slightly to provide clearance for the airpump belt.

I don't know why people spend so much money on simple cone filter intakes, most of which are made out of foam to! $300 on an airbox is justifiable, but not a simple air filter element.

FD3S DRIFT 05-23-2004 02:24 PM

this whole itake project should be less than 90 bucks, so thats not to bad.

TTPETE-if you can get those pix up it would be greatly appreciated i am going out of town till tuesday and hopfully can finish this up when i get home. so thanks in advance.

right down there sucking up all that hot radiator air https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

twinturborx7pete 05-28-2004 02:52 PM

u know, cool air comes up from there as well.. u could make a snorkel if you wanted to.. but the gains are negligible...all intake kits pull from the same area... you can't re-engineer the enginebay aerodynamics..

papasmurf 05-28-2004 05:12 PM

im selling my two k&n filters of that size, if you want make an offer. they were used for one day

FD3S DRIFT 05-29-2004 12:18 AM

i just bought some two days ago. dammit.

thanks though. and thanks again the TTPETE https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Dramon_Killer 05-29-2004 04:59 PM

I'm really not a big fan of k&n's only because they get messed up erally easily. They'll still filter but theyre pretty fragile. You hit the filter element on anything and it just got a dent.
