I just recently purchased a 93 with a brand new motor. What are some of the things i should watch for? What kind of break in period? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Break in about 500 miles, some would suggest 1000 but it really isnt necessary. I suggest using a premix like ProtecR available fromPettit Racing.
Other than that get a boost guage installed and try not to over heat it. Change the oil religously every 3000 miles or sooner. If they havntbeen done already change the fuel filter/plugs/air filters now also. Enjoy. Is the car stock or modified? |

Heres a list of whats on it or in it.

My plans for the rx-7 are about the same.I'm going to a single turbo.(when i figure out what will fit in there). It has a mazda reman 13b in it with like 300 miles on it. I'm going to get the Commander. Most people I have talked to said it works well. I want a street port done on the motor. But dont know who to send it to yet.I'm looking to hit around 600 RWHP with the RX-7.If you can tell me who a good tuner is that would help. Mike |
You seem to know your fair share about cars. Just in case you dont know
the Rx7 does not take detonation kindly. You mentioned getting the commander, do you already have the Apex power FC? As for the streetport, this is something that is done when rebuilding the engine. The engine has to be taking completly apart, and the ports in each housing ported separately. Here is a couple of helpfull links. http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/index.html http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/ Enjoy, and take care of the car! -Brad |
For that much power be sure to upgrade the cooling system.
Either eliminate the air separator tank or replace it with an aftermarket. Look at the AST on the car. If it is stock, the color changes as it ages: black=new, brown=old, green=getting ready to fail. Consult one of the many lightning in a world of thunder pages for lots of mechanical how to. I have parts from Pettit, and RP and been pleased with both. I bought a down pipe on ebay, and was pleasantly surprised that it was stainless. Get it 4 wheel aligned. Mine is basically stock except for K&N air filter, down pipe, random cat since it is my daily driver. |
