i got a question fella's...i recently put the hks intake on my 7. after everything was done, i noticed that there is a hole, an opening on the plastic covering on the stock intercooler. i went out and bought some alum. sheets and made a kinda cover to put over top of the opening. should i block the hole, or should that be open?? i thought it should be covered to protect it from heat but now im not so sure https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif thanks for the help guys.

leave it open.. its the hole that used to goto the stock intake.. A few people make there own box and use that hole as an intake opening..

If you leave it open some of the air will escape and not go through the intercooler. Not very efficient. The stock pos intercooler needs all the efficiency it can get. Go to a hardware store and purchase a sheet of thin metal and cut out a cover. Silicone or even better, rivet it on.

well I'm just thinking that it might be better to leave it open and build something to aim the air to the intake.... because if he covers it, he's just going to be sucking in hot air from the radiator.. so I guess the better cooling he gets from the intercooler will be offset by the hotter air he's sucking in the intake.... just my .02 cents.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

Best thing to do would be to block that hole.. and build a box that pulled in cold air from somewhere else... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

if the hole is on the intercooler, then the air would be blowing out..... not being sucked in... although i dont think you would loose a significant amount of boost ( i know cuz i have a hole on my crossover pipe the size of my pinky) it will still rob the efficiency of the intercooler, specially that stock intercooler
