Ive had 5 hondas and im done. I want a real sports car. I dont know much about rx7s but i want to learn more. I had a 91 black gtu. It had a blown motor and the car was a little ruff, i was gonna do a turbo II swap but it seemed like a waste of money so i sold it. Now im lookin for a 3rd gen. Can anyone tell me whats a fair price for a stock 3rd gen? and also if there are any things that i should look for when im gonna buy one. ie: problems or types of wear and tear
Thanks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif |

the nsx is not fast enough for the price, you could have a porsche or a used ferrari for that.
|
The NSX is a overpriced slow POS....I'm not a fan of any honda...I like the S2000 Body...but thats it...I don't care if the thing goes to 9K or not..what s4 NA stock can't? lol...dumbass hondas....
|
don't get me wrong, I love the rotary... but the nsx is a very refined car, I don't think it's right at all to group it with the civic, accord, and s2000. Mazda makes some shitty ass cars too you know. Definitely not a slow POS, it is expensive, but you can pick up a used NSX for a price similar to a used FD.

what's wrong with the nsx?
its just that FD's are better |

Anyone that says the NSX is a POS must not have much knowledge of what goes into that car. Talk about a low compromise approach to building such a vehicle, if such an approach had been taken with the RX-7 would we have iron rotors or housings in our engines? c'mon guys, gimme a break. |
hey.. im on my second 3rd gen.. but i also have a civic https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png im sure ive posted pix of it enough.. hehe my show car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

Good luck finding your new rx7 I would love to have another to drive with and go to meets with https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Check the classified forums, its the best place to look for an FD that has been taken care of properly, you never know what you are going to get at a dealership!? Check private owners, make sure to get a compression test, and any service papers and receipts!
as for the NSX thing, it is truely a bad ass car, sure its not the fastest thing in the world, but my friend owns a 98 NSX-T and its badass. I think it ran a 13.0@106mph stock. sounds about right, the older 91-96? NSXs had slower engines. They are an all ALUMINUM Car, which is what drives the price up on them, and if you've ever had the privelage to drive and ride in one, it will surely change your mind. So stock for stock, a 98NSX vs. a 95 RX-7, the NSX will win. But i'm more partial to my own car as are the rest of you, just don't go bashing what you don't know. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...closedeyes.gif |

you can say whatever you'd like to up people's thoughts of the NSX, but at the end of the day you're paying an insanely high price and simply STILL driving a Honda. (yes it's a honda, acura=honda, for those of you who want to try and lecture me for calling it a honda)
kevin. |
LOL @ kevin...
about the FD though, check to make sure that all the recalls have been done. you can do this by simply calling a Mazda dealership and giving them the VIN, they can check what recalls have been done. expect to replace a lot of stock parts. if anyone bought a ~10 year-old car, they would have to replace things. IMO, it's better to start with an unmodified car, fix what's needed and make sure it's running right, and then start upgrading it. check out these two sites for some good pointers. it never hurts to know a lot about a car you want to buy. http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/ http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/index.html it wouldn't hurt to bookmark those sites either. a lot of how-to's and troubleshooting/faqs |
Thanks guys. I really like the look of the fd, but what do you guys think about the fc turbo II?
|
Turbo IIs are AWESOME. I loved mine, some girl hit it though and totalled it, suxors...
But its an awesome car and very capable of lots of things... Check out Soul Assassin's car.. Soul Assasin's FC I want another one, but for now i have bills to pay, maybe later on i'll pick up another one... they are getting rarer... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif |
Soul assasin has a badass Fc.
try here on some good reading to research Fd's if your still interetsed. http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/buyaused.htm http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/ http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/ I hate to upset you guys but I have seen many fast ass hondas. |

Shane.Trammell-I hope that isn't your honda man.. for some reason I really hate hatchback/CRX's.. but no crapin' on yours or anything.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
Hell... I'd love to have an NSX. It's a great car. You can make the FD faster with minimal modifications but the NSX is a refined, RELIABLE true sports car.
I actually considered getting one instead of an FD. But in my area used NSX's sell for AT LEAST twice as much as an FD. |
i've seen many fast hondas as well..
oh, and an FD is a "true sports car" just isn't reliable.. LOL.. but a real sports car isn't is it? Vipers, Vettes, Ferrari's.. all break.. lol.. just NSX has that damn honda reliability... heh https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png |
Yeah... Didn't meen to imply that an FD isn't a true sports cars. It certainly is.
I'm loving my FD so far. Hurray! |
