We're running a t78 on an extended port rew with streetported exhaust ports. Every time we try to pull past 6k at 17psi we get ignition break up. I've tried it with the trailing disconnected, more fuel, less fuel and the same with the timing. I've ordered a set of iridium plugs and a set with just 2 electrodes so I can try closing the gap a bit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to eliminate all possibilities before we go with an msd ignition or something of that sort.

are your stock coils any good? they do fail, even on stock cars

They seemed fine til we started doing pulls to 17plus psi. They tested ok a while back but I'm going to double check them just to be sure. Either way I have a spare set on the shelf. I was also thinking about running a larger power wire. I ordered a set of plugs with just 2 ground electrodes as well and I'm going to try setting the gap to about .025" if nothing else fixes it.

It's already putting down 447whp and 365ftlbs when we only pull to 6-6500rpm. Can't wait to see what the final #'s are.

ever think about upgrading to t2 coils? of the 2nd gens?

I would say 447 is pretty good with no ignition amplifier.

No doubt, but we can't even make a full pull. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.gif I'm waiting on some different plugs, and I'll be going over the coils as well. Worst cast I'll change the ignition to msd, I have a 6al readily available.

i have been fooling with plugs for yrs i have a single turbo 95 the best plug i have used is a ngkr5671a it is a 10 heat range gap it at 24 thousants you can run at least 20 psi with no break up problems .the factory plugs can be used on the trailing. ngk has a full heat range in this plug.
