Hi,

I just bought a 1997 rx-7 Type RB Bathurst...... First i need to know how fast is it... I mean is it as fast as an R1???

Also my car idles at 1500 rpms.... There seems to be no other problem... It is very fast.... Doesn't smoke..... with the AC on it idles at around 1100-1200 rpms.......

The add coolant light did come on on two occasions and when i checked the radiator the water was full of rust... So i had the radiator flushed.....

Still why does the car idle at 1500 rpms???

Any suggestions.. I'll need alot of help

Thanks

adjust ur idle

an idle around 1500 could be a few things, the most common would be a vacuum leak.

I'm with turbo VR6 on this one...how do your brakes feel? Is it hard to press down? If they are, then the hose going from the engine to the brake booster is disconnected or has a rip in it.

I checked all the vacuums... even took the intake manifold off to check but found the hoses in good condition and no leaks...... also idle comes to 800 rpms at night with the lights and ac on.... And the car seems fine..... but without ac and lights it remains at 1500 rpms and at times when floor the accelerator and then take my foot off of it the rpms when coming down get stuck at around 2000 rpms and then i press the accelerator pedal quickly and it comes to 1500 rpms

what could it be

damn, an rx-7 in pakistan? never thought I would hear that. Look on the upper intake manifold where the throttle cable attaches. you should see a 10mm nut with a flat head screw in it. loosen the nut and turn the screw to adjust the idle. Allthough I doubt that is the problem, it may give you a quick fix, but it won't solve the real problem

we've got more than 11 rx-7's in Karachi only... and there are other nice sports cars like the Merc SL60, Acura NSX, A few Porches, Skylines, a Supra, Gto 3000, nissan 300 zx, dodge viper, turbocharged civcs and integras and many more......

We have races every sunday..... The track scene here is amazing....

I'll try what you have advised tonite and let u know the results

Obvious, I know, but you should check to make sure the throttle linkage is not binding anywhere.
