Well guys I been thingking for the past couple of months seeing alot of nice care coming out and the only car that capture my eyes is the G35 X Sedan. I am doing this for a feed back from the older Rotary gear head when u sell your FDS did u reget it or not that much? Anyway I have been hearing it from my wife since my second child is born which is about 3 years because I need a more family car. My history with this car started back in Summer of Fall of 95 to present as much I would like to keep it and get the G35 but I am just the average Joe so in otherwords I have gave up something. For now I goona post it in the NE sections and see what offer I get for it. BTW there is nothing wrong with the car. Just thinking of moving on to more of a family oriented. Any input appreciated. Thanks

When I sold my first FD I missed it alot. It was sad to see it go. But if I was in your situation with a young family then I would seriously think about it. |

Been there. What was hard for me was while I'm driving my boring 4dr with child seats and an RX pulls up next to you at the light. Sold my old RX7 to buy my first house. A car that I had bought brand new and loved. Then had to watch as the guy who bought it trashed it about.
That said, I knew that was the right decision then, and have no regrets. You do what you have to do, your family comes first. Yeah, we're all car enthusiasts here, but in the end, it's just a car. There are far more important things, and it sounds like you know that. Good luck. |
yeah family comes first. so id say do it, but not before we go back to the track. you can always get a first gen again.
if whoever buys it doesnt want the rear seats..... |
Take care of your family. Of course your going to miss the 7. It's like dating a super model.

youve been down this road before khris..
gatherin its your second child... you already have a daily.. if its for financial reasons or looking to upgrade the daily with the funds.. go for it.. regrettable yes.. impossible to acquire again yes.. in the sense that youll never have your baby back... but you can get another perhaps down the road..and start all over.. sounds to me like youve just fallen out of love for the fd and just hidin behind excuses to keep her... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png |
Hey Amp not really, I would never gave up on the Rotary world because I have always been with the RX started at age 16, now I close to mid 30. I just need a more suitable car because the Rx7 never seen rain or snow so it's sit most of it's life in the garage unless I move to the south where the Rx7 can enjoy it's life. I am in a catch 22 position because I just got a new family car Ford Freestyle, and the Company I work for (Nextel) provide me with a Company Truck just like every other Company I had work for in the past. Also I have been very busy at work I know I plan for us to have a family Rx7 meet but every other weekend I am oncall or family get together goes on.

Sounds like it is paid off and you guys have other transportation. So why sell it? Just cancel the insurance for a while and buy something else. It does not cost you anything to keep it and people are just going to lowball you anyway so why bother?
|
No reason to sell it if you aren't financially needing to. maybe start doing some auto-x or roadcourse stuff to revive the spirit.
|
kris if you don't need to sell it, then don't. You will regret it down the road. You've had it since 95, now thats a bond.

He might want to consider keeping comprehensive coverage on it, just in case. That would still be pretty cheap though. My problem would be having it parked in the garage and resisting the temptation to take it out once in a while. |
yeah, sounds like you are in a position to keep it.
paid for? hold onto it, unless your strapped for cash |
I was in a similar situation where I was considering selling my FD along with trading in my truck to get prepared for the eventual baby. Surprisingly, my wife was the one who convinced me to keep it. It was paid for and it would probably be hard to find another one like it in similar shape when I was ready for another one. She reminded me how much I love it and how much I would regret getting rid of it.
One problem... I *did* get an '05 G35x ( http://smackfu.net/images/g35x/ ) and that car is almost as fun to drive as the FD so the FD has basically been sitting around waiting for us to get rid of our townhouse and get something with a garage or room to build a shop. Poor FD still has the boost leak I got on the way to Rotorfest in 2004 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png . I'm glad I still have it, even though it makes me sad neglecting it so much. Would have been kicking myself in the ass if I had sold it, especially if whoever bought it ragged it out. Guess I'll have to make it up by turning the FD into something that totally blows away driving the G35 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif when I get the chance. anyway... whatever your decision I hope it works out for you, the G35x is a kick ass car,, but if you're anything like me, you will regret getting rid of your FD. |
