Hey guys, how far can the 3rd gen coils go??? You think with a a/f of say 11:1 and L timing of 12-15deg I could get low 400's rwhp out of the BONE STOCK ignition system with B10egv plugs? If not I might get some Turbo II coils to use but dont know what I'd have to do to install them, will my harness just plug right into the 2nd gen coils so will I need to hack it up somehow.

Last question I promise, how far can the 2nd or 3rd gen ignition make it without a amp box? I know I've HEARD of Aussie guys runing alot of power without them but it seems like all the US guys run amps. I'm thinking alot of it has to do with tuning. Tuning wont be an issue on my car as I'm having a VERY experienced tuner from Aussie tune it, he really knows his ****!!!!!

Thanks guys,

STEPHEN

You'll have to do some rewiring to get the TII coils to work. I know quite a few people using TII coils on 3rd gen motors with a Haltech.

Well it shouldnt be too hard. I've got the motor out and the wire harness sitting on a table. I'm going to splice into the harness where it attaches to the coils and extend the wires so I can relocate my coils. I think I'm either going to get a mini battery or relocate the battery and mount the coils the on the remaining stock battery tray. I want to get them to a cooler location instead of squeezed in between the motor and uim....just think of the heat under there with no air flow!!!!!!

Anyway, with all that said....what would i actually have to do??? Anyone have a clue??? Also, I'm running a Power FC but I dont think that will matter. I fugured it the plugs were different maybe I would get the last few inches of the TII harness and spice it into my wire harness to it would just plug up. Would that work???

What problems am I facing???

Once you get the coils you'll figure it out. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

all you need is the coils though, not the ignitors
