I'm currently looking for an RX-7 gen 3 and I need to know what is a fair deal for one that is in good shape... After that I would like to know how much you guys are spending aftermarket and for maintainance in general... I'm not used to that whole no pistons thing...you know? I've been drag racing for years but I want some auto X now to mix things up and from what I understand this is a great car for it.

Got mine near perfect for 14.5, but I'm sure there are plenty out there cheaper.

Get rid of all of that damn underhood heat first off! Look into a full exhaust (you may need a new ecu to handle that) and upgrade your radiator. I'd also inspect all of the vacuum lines and replace them with some better ones (read: not rubber.) Boost gauge.

The cost of all of that would vary, rx7.com has some good exhaust parts to look at. They have the Fluidyne radiator, but it's not the biggest you can get. (You can get a custom one from a company like Griffin or the Koyo.) As for cost, it'll vary. Shop around.

You don't need an ECU to run a cat back. I would do alot of the necessary maintenance first. Change all the fluids(even if they are supposed to be fresh). Feel what the car is like first before going crazy with the mods. If you buy a cat back right off the bat you will more than likely be disappointed because you don't know the cars potentail/power without.

I didn't mean just catback, I'm talking dp, mp, and muffler. I've heard rumors of people leaning out with that so I was kind of warning him. But you're right, I figured fluid changes would just be common sense.

I heard about the vac lines. I hear there is about 15 feet extra line than what is really needed on that car. But isn't that kind of difficult to do with a car that I am not familiar with like the rx7? What ECU do you recomend?

Ok, complete misunderstanding then. My mistake. You are right on that. Don't want to lean out the 13b-REW. Fluid changes should be the first thing that you do. Tranny,diff,motor oil, fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, plugs. I am sure there is more.



Daemaon- I am not the most familiar with an FD, but the vacuum line diagram can be very confusing. If you read the 3rd Gen F.A.Q's alot of questions will be answered for you. Find a ROTARY SPECIFIC shop close to you and get to know them. Or find a local rotorhead and get to know them. G'luck.
