I have a loud "shrieking" coming out of my engine bay ever since I took of the intake manifold. I swapped out my air pump for another and changed the alternator and main belts and you can still hear it and its loud. Anyone have any suggestions? It seems to be coming from the left side of the engine bay. Water pump possibly? Does the water pump make noises when its bad? Thanks guys

I think the waterpump might make some noise if it goes bad... The only way it gould go bad is if it starts to seize. The belt might squeal..
Is everything tight? |
the water pump will leak from the weep hole, under the pulley

in most cases the waterpump leaks if it's bad. Try to find yourself a stethoscope and listen where the noise comes from. could also be the pulleys making that noise... check the belts as well like 9Base3 says.

mike Water pumps don't make nosies when hey fail... http://www.fd3boost.com/waterpump_HT.php |
I replaced the belts wth brand new ones. Well at least the alternaor belt and the one on the far right, main drive bel?. Doesn't the water pump belt run off the alternator belt .Are there any others? The belts are tight. Thanks fdboost, I thought it might be because of the location the noise was coming from. Anyone ever have any simular problems or ever heard of any. I'm pullin my hair out on this one! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

My guess would be the airpump dy9in.
Did you unplug the air pump electrical connector and see if the noise stopped? |
It could be your waterpump bearings.. Mine is in the same condition. I thought it might have been my idler pulley bushing at first but after replacing that it was still squealing. After pulling everything off in the process of going single, I spun the water pump around and realized that it was the culprit. It doesn't feel loose at all but it sure does squeal.
..For what it's worth. |

mike yeah they have a seal on the shaft, and the weep hole lets the water leak before it gets to the bearings mike |

Newbern D how loud is the noise? Mine is very loud. If the noise coming from your engine was pretty loud maybe I've found the problem! Jt I have oil in my engine! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png If it's not the water pump bearing the only other thing it could be is a bad air pump connector coming from the engine. Anyone know where to get one of those from? Anyway great suggestions guys.

UPDATE: Car is fixed!! The problem was a bad check valve in the ACV. I hope this helps someone who has a simular problem. Besides the LOUD sqealing noise from the enginebay another sign is a little smoke in the enginebay after shut off and a wondering idle. Cheers
