Hi,

I just bought a pair of stock twins cheap. I was wondering how I could check if they were in good condition. What should I look out for?

My observations so far are:

slight crank it ont of the inlet ports. Will post pic soon.

blades spin round but don't know how freely they should be.

theye is a very slight play when i push the centre hub of either turbo blades. is this normal?

I am hoping they are, or at least i can weld the crack because i want to have a go at polishing/flowing them . Any comments on modifying stock twis are also welcome.

Thanks guys.

Nopistons is great!

I meant slight crack on one of the inlet ports/manifold!

it depends on the size of the cracks, its vary rear for you to find manifolds without cracks.... side to side movement of the blades is ok, in and out movement means the turbo is pretty much dead

Good luck welding it. Cast iron requires special wire, settings, and preheat from what I understand.

Yeah, cast iron is difficult at best to weld. If the cracks are small, a pro could weld it up. If they're too big, they'll be unrepairable. *slight* shaft play is acceptable, how slight is slight? Enough to feel but not enough to see?
