This is what I wanted to post:
Why is that, just not "old" enough to be able to handle the requirements that are going to be needed? Didn't mean for that to come across that way, but being 19, you don't really have that great paying of a job. I am still thinking about an FC, but the FD is just so sleek and awesome. I never mentioned anything about age, but an FC is loads of fun, cheaper, cheaper, cheaper. I spend from $400 to $1400 a month on my FD(not including insurance/car payments). If you can afford that, then by all means go for it. I started out with a non-turbo FC when I was 21. Moved onto a turboII at 24 and got a FD at 25. I'm 27 now. |

After my reliability mods (dp, radiator, and vacuum hoses), I spent 150 bucks on new injector seals, an FPR, and FPD one month. Installed, and fixed my fuel leaks. After that, last month I had a coolant leak which I fixed for 15 bucks (turbo coolant lines). Now I have grounding problems, and I plan on spending no more than 20 bucks to fix that.
Eventually, I'll need my turbos rebuilt, a new clutch put in, and the oil pan gasket fixed. That'll maybe cost 2k total if I get it done at the same time. Those should then last as long as the motor, at least. Down the road I'll also need my bushings done, and since I don't have a press, that might cost close to 1k for all of them. Those also, should last a long ass time, as it took 10 years for them to go bad the first time. What else... 4 oil changes in a year, for me at least; 100 bucks there. A fuel filter change at 60 bucks for the filter, and an hour's labour if you don't change it yourself. A coolant flush for about 30 dollars. Maybe some new brake pads. That's the real yearly maintenance. Definately keep a few k around for any major problems that might show up. I'd hate to be stuck with a problem and no money. As you can see, the real yearly maintenance isn't so bad once the major weak components are replaced. If you start modding the car, you're maintenance will go up, especially if you track it, at which point tires, brakes, and suspension components start to fail regularly. |
Insurance on my FD is slightly less than the NA 3000GT I had just before this car. Other than that, you're on your own as far as figuring out how much your insurance would be, since I'm still covered under my family's plan for several more years.
