My hood release cable came loose or broke because the release has no tension to it. I was thinking of using the method of jamming rubber pads between hood and bumper til the hood is pryed up enough to slip something through the opening. but i dont undering what to hook to open the hood.

is the cable still there? and attached to the pull handle? mine broke at the pull handle and i could pull the cable with a pair of vice grips. check that. also there is a long write up on this on the other froum do a search there for the hood release

the cable is still acttached to the pull handle... just no tension

pop your headlights up and pull from there...
providin the latch was released... |
This actually happened to me recently, or a similar situation. I managed to get it open by using a coat hanger straightening it out and making an L shape at the end. I used that to pull the latch that the hood cable was connected to. it's in the back on the whole latch assembly but i got pretty good at it haha i can do it in under like a minute..

i got it open .. i use the hanger method..

Scary......
Now people are going to start stealing engines with COATHANGERS hehe... I heard of a RECALL here on the hood latch, I dont know if it pertains to the US spec version, but something to look into, get a FREE fix....maybe......... |
Sorry, I know I'm bringing this back from the dead, but I just did the same thing. Does anyone have a picture of what to hook with the hanger? Thanks

being locked away from your engine is like locking a fridge from a fat kid https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.gif
