So when the forum was hacked a couple weeks ago did the thread about the new hood piston lifter things never get revived? I was just regaining my interest in them and was disappointed to not find it.

The backup file only got some of our information back. Since the hood dampener thread was fairly new it didn't get backed up and we lost it :(

i bought them from rotaryextreme. they are awesome, work well and the bracket is super nice. install took about 10 minutes. i left my hood open while i helped my friend pull his engine for a rebuild. and it didnt drop down and try to close at all. it doesnt jump up violently when opening and it will still drop close after you lower it about halfway. i was going to make a seperate thread with pics but i never got around to it. i've had them installed for almost 2 weeks now.

there was some concern that the dampner would interfer with changing the oil filter and i just cant see that happenning. i am 5'6 and its very easy to reach the oil filter still. i believe the only way it would get in your way is if you were like 3ft tall.

the hood still opens up very high which is a plus when tinkering with the car. and not haing the hood prop to work around is an awesome plus.

Well ****...I'm 3 foot tall. Guess I'll have to buy a oil filter relocator kit.

Well you just address two reasons as to why I was not interested. First off I like dropping the hood to let it shut. I assumed these would require the hood to be pushed down instead of just dropping it. Secondly I thought it might get in the way when working on something near the firewall. Sounds like that is not an issue? If so maybe I'll pick up a set.

What about those pictures?

What was the nopistons price? I didnt remember it being the $155 that is on the site now, were they that high?

rxjjang 01-03-2005 05:24 PM

I bought them and they are really great! Dropping the hood closed is just the same as the before and there are no clearance issues. I believe they were 130 + shipping as part of the forum special.

The old link for the nopistons special on the hood damper kit is

http://www.rotaryextreme.com/hooddampernp.html

It's already over and less than 10 people bought it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

So right now it's $155+shippping.

There is no problem with changing your oil filter and you can drop the hood close if you choose to.

The forum is acting weird. Everytime I post something, it just attaches some funky photo. That photo has nothing to do with hood damper.
