Ok... modded my friends 94R2 to this extent....

Apex-i open intake

Efini Y-pipe

M2 SS Downpipe

Apex-i N1 Dual Exaust

His boost holds tight at 10 till 4500rpms WOT... Then transition BAM!!!!

****** 15PSI spike!! 2 times in a row...

No more test runs after that... Scary ****.

I have all the above mods, and a Hi-flo cat and boost 10-9-10 with an occasional 11psi spike...

Why with less mods does he spike all over the ****** place? JUST AT TRANSITION... Never levels off... Just goes to 15!!!!

I have a EFI PMS, but that doesn't physically controll boost... what the hell?

My car = 93

His car = 94

Is there a difference? Pills? Anything? Help please!! Gimme somewhere to start! Will a Home Depot boost controller do it? Where do I put it?

Thanks fellas!!!

I think 93 has pills and 94-95 has "nipples"

Not 100% sure though

It could be a fewthings. No two cars are the exact same. I wouldn't worry terribly much. I have spike at 16psi on stock twins when I was at similar mods. You should at least get him set up with a tunned ecu. Like one from Pettit or M2. If your that worried about it go down to home depot and get a vavle to put in the line.

It's not a big deal.

Yeah... Next step is ECU, but should be safe at these mods if we can keep the boost at or around 10. Thing is, it doesn't just spike. It spikes and stays up there....

Any pics of where to put in a MBC? Or what else we could do?

Thanks!!!!

Yea it will creep on up there.

The EFI PMS does control boost. It allows you to set the vent values for the boost contol solenoids (PC & WG, or perhaps just WG pre/post transition). If vent learn mode is turned on, it will try to learn a vent value that gives you the boost you set.

If you have both nipple restrictions (ooh, sexy!) and pills, you might have too much restriction. However, with good primary boost and a big spike/high secondary boost, perhaps only the pre-control (wastegate-like door that bleeds exhaust into the secondary turbo to spool it) is controlling boost. Could you have a hose popped off on the wastegate, source or vent lines?

Hmmm... I'll have to look. It's not my car, so I haven't really been under it TOO much. But I'll take a look when i get the chance. I'm not too familiar with the pills and/or nipples... Where would I look for them?

And yes, I know the PMS controls boost... But I didn't think it would to the extent of helping control creep/spike. (Actually I'm still learning the vent values.. I turned that feature off in fear of screwing someting up in my ignorance)

Thanks again guys!

94s also have pills....I just got done with my hose job and replaced the pills with the Home Depot boost controler...Each car reacts differently so opening it up with Y-pipe, intake, DP, and exhaust may spike to 13 on one car and 14 on anther...probably need to get a good boost controler...actually Home Depot may work...I think playing with the prespool on for the secondary will help to bring the spike down... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

Yeah... That's prolly the next step. Thanks!

I always turn vent learn off. It seems to screw things up for me. I get way to much inconsistincy with that.

Much easier IMO with out that feature.
